TECHNICAL OFFICERWe are seeking a motivated and results-driven Electric Engineer to join our team. Based in Harare, the ideal candidate will be responsible:<\/p>\n
\t\t\t\tDuties and Responsibilities
\n\t\t\t\t\u2022 Engineering & Design: technical role \u2013 site screening, design review, review and equipment selection\u2022 RFP development and contracting all the site and grid\u2013based studies.\u2022 Perform energy yield analyses (EYAs) and review EYAs by other parties\u2022 Review the site and grid study reports from consultants and provide feedback\u2022 Evaluate and optimise technology and layout options for future projects\u2022 Highlight grid connection and off\u2013taker requirements for future projects\u2022 Lead the write\u2013up of the Employer\u2019s Requirements for the EPC to align with \u2013 with a strong focus on cost\u2013effectiveness and constructability\u2022 Write\u2013up of minimum specifications for key equipment (Inverter,Module, Tracker \/ substructure, BESS, PPC, SCADA, substation equipment)\u2022 Liaise and coordinate with Lenders\u2019 Technical Advisor (LTA) and support in all technical matters on behalf of the organisation and, in some cases, the EPC.\u2022 Review and approve manufacturer\/ subcontractor\/ vendor techno\u2013commercial offer\u2022 Support the Solar Technical Manager and other parties in the Technical team in achieving AMEA\u2019s annual and long term strategic renewable energy business plan\u2022 Support with project agreements like PPA, EPC and O&M and their typical technical schedules\u2022 Specify the Owner\u2019s Engineer (OE) role to help with the development of their RFPs and Contracts \u2013 while assuming more responsibility to reduce the organisation\u2019s reliance on an OE for technical support\u2022 Coordination and communication with internal and external parties and\/or suppliers to resolve techno\u2013commercial issues\u2022 Manage technical work streams within the projects allocated Key Responsibilities:\u2022 Support project team with regards to site screening, initial layout design, basic grid connection design, selection of critical equipment and contracting all the site studies. Review and evaluate the EPC requirements and offers Review the site study reports from consultant and provide feedback\u2022 Support the development team for carrying out site screening assessments including but not limited to Africa, Middle and Asia regions and identifying potential solar and BESS energy assets for development\u2022 Support the organisation in performing and packaging projects\u2019 technical feasibility studies\u2022 Perform technical due diligence assessments on potential projects\u2022 Build and maintain relationships with consultants, EPC contractors, technology providers, OEMs, Lenders.\u2022 Support, and in some cases lead, a project through various stages of development like resource studies, feasibility studies, conceptual designs, high\u2013level environmental impact assessments, agreements and applications,\u2022 Negotiate techno\u2013commercial terms of the PPA and other project agreements, detailed studies, procurement, EPC, O&M \/ LTSA and Project Financing agreements\u2022 Prepare budget for technical studies\u2022 Effectively manage preparation of required technical inputs and management of technical operations for several renewable energy projects concurrently \u2013 all with time and budget constraints considered to deliver these projects.\u2022 Coordinate with internal legal and financial team during the development process for the preparation of various document and model reviews\u2022 Coordinate with execution team during structuring, execution and commissioning stages of the projects\u2022 Assist in Lenders and investors technical due diligence processes\u2022 Prepare technical and (in some cases) non\u2013technical project reports for internal or external inquiries\u2022 Monitor and if possible supervise all the above functions for co\u2013developed \/ co\u2013invested projects\u2022 Detail design review support<\/p>\n
\t\t\t\tQualifications and Experience
\n\t\t\t\tExperience Requirements \u2022 Successful experience of at least 3 to 5 years in the development, structuring and\/or construction of utility\u2013scale solar or renewable energy projects in markets including Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Strong experience in Solar resource assessment, screening and initial plant design, constructability and technical requirements.\u2022 Evidence of continued professional development\u2022 Detail design first\u2013hand or review experience\u2022 Commissioning and grid code testing experience\u2022 Strong understanding of grid codes, grid connection requirements and plant control philosophy\u2022 Understanding and some experience in SCADA, plant communications, lightning and electrical protection\u2022 Understanding of most common failure points in utility\u2013scale solar and BESS plants\u2022 Understanding of typical component and consultancy costs\u2022 EPC, developer, utility or consultant business background Qualifications and Experience\u2022 Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Mechatronics)\u2022 Masters in renewable energy will be an advantage\u2022 Clean Class 4 Drivers License.<\/p>\n
