\n\t\t\t\tThe National Biotechnology Authority is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of ICT Assistant. This hands-on role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about information and communication technology and eager to support the organization\u2019s technological needs. \t\t\t\tDuties and Responsibilities
\n\t\t\t\tInitiate ICT related requests by:\u2022\tProviding approved specifications to Procurement.\u2022\tSubmitting the approved requests.<\/p>\n
Check Hardware and systems functionality by:\u2022\tInspecting user devices for faults or performance issues.\u2022\tIdentifying software malfunction on user machines.\u2022\tConfirming antivirus status and Windows updates.\u2022\tTesting internet and network access regularly.<\/p>\n
Install ICT equipment and software by:\u2022\tSetting up computers, printers, and other peripherals.\u2022\tInstalling approved software and drivers.\u2022\tConfiguring network settings according to policy.Update software and system components by :\u2022\tApplying routine software patches and antivirus updates.\u2022\tUpdating operating systems as directed.\u2022\tMaintaining update logs.<\/p>\n
Repair Hardware and Software peripherals by:\u2022\tEstablishing hardware, software and peripherals that need attention.\u2022\tReplacing and\/ or assembling hardware components with new materials. \u2022\tResolving network connectivity.\u2022\tTesting hardware and software performance.\u2022\tRegistering jobs into the logbook.<\/p>\n
Maintain ICT inventory by:\u2022\tRecording new ICT hardware and equipment and transfers.\u2022\tTracking repairs and replacements.\u2022\tProviding asset issuing forms to the recipients.\u2022\tReporting missing or faulty equipment.<\/p>\n
Perform Onsite and on-call Support by:\u2022\tAttending to Stakeholders on-call and on-site issues. \u2022\tHelping set up and label network cabling.\u2022\tSupporting basic testing of switches and routers.\u2022\tRebooting servers or equipment when instructed.<\/p>\n
Support Meetings and training sessions by:\u2022\tSetting up projectors, laptops, and other tools.\u2022\tTesting and troubleshooting connectivity in meeting rooms.\u2022\tProviding standby technical support during sessions.<\/p>\n
Perform Routine system checks by:\u2022\tChecking disk space usage and performance logs.\u2022\tImplementing daily data backups.\u2022\tRestarting systems as directed.<\/p>\n
Clean hardware and peripherals by:\u2022\tRemoving dust from keyboards, monitors, and CPUs.\u2022\tDisinfecting shared devices.\u2022\tReporting visible wear and tear to supervisor.<\/p>\n
Observe Safety and security protocols by;\u2022\tFollowing data protection policies.\u2022\tLocking workstations after use.\u2022\tReporting any suspicious access or malfunctioning systems.<\/p>\n
Produce Physical Permit and Receipt Books by;\u2022\tPreparing and processing permit and receipt books to be used as backup at the Ports Office and Head office.\u2022\tPrinting and binding the books before submission to the Finance Department for dispatch.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t\tQualifications and Experience
\n\t\t\t\t\u2022\tA Diploma in Computer Hardware, Computer and Information Systems or equivalent.CRITICAL\/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: \u2022\tHardware technical skills\u2022\tCommunication skills\u2022 Communication skills \u2022\tAdaptability and cross functional \u2022\tTeam Management\u2022\tKnowledge of Operating systems\u2022\tCloud computing and virtualisation knowledge<\/p>\n
