\n\t\t\t\tAboutEstablished in 1949, SOS Children’s Villages International (CVI) is a dynamic, international social development organization working globally to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children without parental care and those who are at the risk of losing it.<\/p>\n
SOS Children’s Villages Association of Zimbabwe is a member of SOS International – a worldwide children’s social welfare organisation, providing vulnerable children without homes with a family home and educational opportunities as well as strengthening families to reduce poverty.<\/p>\n

Purpose of the position: We seek mature and professional Individuals with a passion for caregiving, children rights and able to look after children who have no parental care or are at risk of losing parental care. This includes working to ensure the happiness, well-being, progress, safety and health of the children in their care. Successful candidates will work in our family homes in Bulawayo<\/p>\n
\t\t\t\tDuties and Responsibilities
\n\t\t\t\tDuties & responsibilities\u2022\tManaging the family house on a day-to-day; Supporting House Parent in nurturing and grooming children; \u2022\tTeaching children household chores and ensuring that the house is maintained in a clean, friendly and healthy environment; \u2022\tGiving psychosocial support to the children in the homes; \u2022\tParticipating in the care and general wellbeing of the children in the home; \u2022\tAssisting with children\u2019s homework and extra tuition programmes; \u2022\tManaging household incomes & expenses; \u2022\tEngaging the children in extra moral activities to support their growth and development; Support the House Parent in updating and maintaining of Children\u2019s Development Plans and Diaries. \u2022\tIf selected, the successful applicant is given an employment contract and begins her career as an SOS mother trainee.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t\tQualifications and Experience
\n\t\t\t\tQualifications & Experience\u2022\tFive \u2018O\u2019 Levels including English Language; \u2022\tCertificate in Systemic Counselling\/Social Work is a requirement; \u2022\tDiploma in Child Safeguarding, protection and care will be a definite advantage; \u2022\tFluent in English and at least one local language; \u2022\tMature candidates not less than 35 years of age; \u2022\tShould have experience in working with children from various backgrounds and difficult circumstances; \u2022\tBe a very good communicator who can effectively communicate with children and young Adults; \u2022\tUnderstanding of residential community life in a caring environment and willing to stay in residence.\u2022\tThe conditions of service include a clear requirement to have one’s centre of life within the SOS family and to take on a long-term working commitment of raising at least for one generation of children and youth in an SOS Children\u2019s Village. Due to the long term parenting commitment required, candidates who have young and dependent children of their own may struggle to adjust to in-residence stay.<\/p>\n
