Job Description
\n\t\t\t\tThe Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Senior Technical Officer in the Chemical & Foods Technology Division. The purpose of the job is to provide accurate, reliable, and timely analytical testing services through effective selection, validation, and application of test methods, while ensuring full compliance with ISO\/IEC 17025 and contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory quality systems.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t\tDuties and Responsibilities
\n\t\t\t\t\u2022\tSelect, appraise, develop, and validate analytical\/test methods.\u2022\tConduct testing on a wide range of samples including raw materials, ingredients, and finished products.\u2022\tSupervise, mentor, and train laboratory staff.\u2022\tImplement and maintain the laboratory management system in line with ISO\/IEC 17025 requirements.\u2022\tEnsure effective quality assurance across all laboratory activities.\u2022\tCompile test reports and evaluate their quality.\u2022\tPerform technical signatory duties for accredited scopes.\u2022\tParticipate in inter-laboratory comparison and proficiency testing programmes.\u2022\tContribute to standards development as a technical expert.\u2022\tMaintain and update laboratory reference materials, standards, and technical literature.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t\tQualifications and Experience
\n\t\t\t\t\u2022\tBSc (Hons) Degree in Chemical Technology, Applied Chemistry, Food Science or equivalent.\u2022\tMinimum of 3 years’ experience in a testing laboratory.\u2022\tPractical experience in operating and troubleshooting analytical instruments (ICP-OES, UHPLC, GC-MS, XRF).\u2022\tKnowledge of sample preparation techniques (SPE, LLE).\u2022\tExperience in method development and validation.\u2022\tComputer literate with good communication skills.\u2022\tKnowledge of ISO\/IEC 17025 and\/or LIMS is an added advantage.\u2022\tClean Class 4 driver\u2019s license is an added advantage.<\/p>\n
