The intern will focus on donor research to identify prospects whose values align with AFSC priorities.Assignments will vary each from time to time and are developed in collaboration with the intern\u2019s supervisor.The intern will gain exposure to philanthropy, nonprofit strategy, and social justice issues.LEARNING OBJECTIVES:Strategic institutional planning\u2022 Acquire knowledge of programs and AFSC\u2019s overall migration approaches.\u2022 Establish a comprehensive understanding of the regional and global context as it relates to social justice, forceddisplacement, and migration.Project coordination &amp; implementation\u2022 Obtain experience in the use and development of project management and coordination tools.\u2022 Gain experience in researching, identifying, and profiling CSOs and INGOs for potential partnerships.\u2022 Build competency in drafting high\u2011quality concept notes that align with donor requirements<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tDuties and Responsibilities<br \/>\n\t\t\t\tESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS \/ RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES\u2022 Conduct donor research to identify prospects whose values align with AFSC priorities in Zimbabwe\u2022 Updating the fundraising plan.\u2022 Assist in gathering data for grant applications and tracking deadlines.\u2022 Support the drafting of concept notes for grant applications.\u2022 Research and identify CSOs and INGOs for potential partnerships and create a database\u2022 Create social media content and newsletters to highlight the impact of AFSC work in Zimbabwe and South Africa.\u2022 Research and prepare write-ups on emerging issues in the sub-region related to peace, migration, and displacement.\u2022 Write clear, evidence\u2011based program updates that communicate progress, challenges, and lessons learned.\u2022 Regular attendance and punctuality are required.\u2022 Operates safely in all conditions and follows policies and procedures.\u2022 Other duties and projects as assigned.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tQualifications and Experience<br \/>\n\t\t\t\tMINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in sociology, international relations, public administration, political science, or related fieldspreferred.\u2022 A minimum of one year, either as an intern or a volunteer in an NGO or civil organization\u2022 Excellent communication and writing skills in English.\u2022 Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment.\u2022 Experience with standard Microsoft Office and related technology.\u2022 Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.\u2022 Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse staff.\u2022 Respect for Quaker values and testimonies.
