\t\t\t\tDuties and Responsibilities
\n\t\t\t\tThe Dean is the chief academic, administrative and financial officer of the Faculty, and will be responsible for leadership in the following functions: \u2022 Administration, management and compliance to academic ordinances and regulations. \u2022 access to teaching and learning, \u2022 research and scholarship, \u2022 community outreach and consultancy services, \u2022 innovation and technology development, \u2022 income generation and financial management, \u2022 deliver as per the targets of the NUST Strategic Plan Outputs and Outcomes annually, \u2022 conduct performance evaluations for staff in the Faculty, \u2022 engage departmental heads to develop new degree programmes, \u2022 identify experts to offer continuing education short courses to industry. A proven track record of achievement in the above areas is a must.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t\tQualifications and Experience
\n\t\t\t\tThe ideal candidate should possess the following: \u2022 Authentic and well-aligned academic and\/ or professional qualifications from approved institutions, preferably to the level of a Doctorate Degree in any one of the disciplines offered by the Faculty. \u2022 Be at least at Associate Professor Grade (or have credentials that would qualify the candidate for appointment at that level);Skills & Competencies<\/p>\n
\u2022 Demonstrated administrative ability to lead and work in a team. \u2022 Interact with Deans of other Faculties in developing collaborative research projects, degree programmes and short courses. \u2022 Proven commitment to academic excellence and collaboration across disciplines. \u2022 Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with students, academic staff, administrators, senior management and external constituencies. \u2022 Demonstrated ability to forge partnerships and garner support from business and community constituencies leading to industrial attachment and employment opportunities for students, as well as business development. \u2022 Ability to source external funds for research and commercialisation. \u2022 Ability to encourage, initiate and manage change in research, innovation and teaching in a transforming environment.<\/p>\n
