\t\t\t\tDuties and Responsibilities
\n\t\t\t\t\u25aa\tTo lead the governance, resilience and compliance of ZIMRA\u2019s Oracle, Windows-based, (primarily SQL Server and related enterprise systems), Postgres and other open-source database platforms \u25aa\tEnsure strategic alignment, operational integrity and audit readiness of database systems \u25aa\tOversee patching schedules, validate backup, performance optimisation, incident classification and systemic problem resolution \u25aa\tProvide technical and governance authority across database operations, \u25aa\tEnsure ZIMRA\u2019s database estate remains resilient, compliant and aligned with COBIT 2019 Lead and support enterprise ICT and digital transformation initiatives aligned to ZIMRA strategic objectives and modern tax administration requirements. Ensure availability, resilience, optimisation, governance and security of mission-critical and enterprise platforms. Implement governance controls, operational standards, audit requirements and compliance frameworks aligned to COBIT 2019, ITIL, ISO\/IEC 27001, NIST and ICT policy. \u25aa\tMentor graduate trainees, junior analysts and technical teams while promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n
\t\t\t\tQualifications and Experience
\n\t\t\t\tJob Skills and Competencies \u25aa\tAdvanced proficiency in SQL Server administration (SSMS, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, clustering) \u25aa\tStrong knowledge of query optimisation, indexing strategies and performance tuning \u25aa\tExperience with enterprise backup and recovery tools (Veeam, Commvault, Bacula, pgBackRest). \u25aa\tCompetence in patch management, configuration baselines and secure deployments for database systems. \u25aa\tFamiliarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Zabbix) and proactive alerting. \u25aa\tAwareness of cloud integration (Azure SQL, AWS RDS) for hybrid database environments \u25aa\tStrong \tunderstanding \tof \tenterprise \tICT \tgovernance, \tcybersecurity, \tdigital transformation and tax administration environments. \u25aa\tKnowledge of enterprise governance frameworks including COBIT 2019, ITIL 4, ISO\/IEC 27001 and data protection legislation. \u25aa\tStrong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting and operational risk management capability. \u25aa\tAbility to work effectively in multidisciplinary, high-pressure and mission-critical environments. \u25aa\tExcellent \tcommunication, \tstakeholder \tengagement, \ttechnical \treporting \tand presentation skills. \u25aa\tUnderstanding of enterprise systems integration, operational resilience, audit readiness and compliance management. \u25aa\tAbility to manage priorities, support operational excellence and drive continuous improvement initiatives. <\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience Bachelor\u2019s Degree in ICT, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent discipline. Professional certification in database administration \u25aa At least 5 years\u2019 experience supporting large-scale enterprise platforms or public sector digital transformation initiatives.<\/p>\n
