Key Responsibilities
Safely carry out blasting operations
Supervise the Prime, Load, Tie and Shoot (PLTS) blasting operations team
Enforce controlled blasting at all times
Supervise explosives handling during transportation to and from the bench and also during charging
Implementation of blast designs, charging plans and timing plans
Blasting operations Legal appointment
Implement the company and client’s Safety, Health, Environment and Quality standards
Enforcement of the regulatory and statutory compliance
Assist with compilation of explosives returns and explosives inventory reconciliation
Implementation and enforcement of governance, policies and procedures.
Ensure that all the blasts are monitored for improved results
Safe keeping of the blasting tools and equipment
Requirements
At least a Cambridge O’ Level/ BGCE certificate or equivalent
At least 6 years’ experience in a Prime, Load, Tie and Shoot (PLTS) Open Pit environment, at least three (3) of which were at a Blaster Level
Be in possession of valid driver’s License
Be in possession of a valid Open Pit Blasting Licence
Be a Botswana Citizen
Must be fluent in both Setswana and English
Knowledge of and experience in AECI electronic blasting products is an added advantage
Blasting technical knowledge
Good understanding of the Explosives Act and, the Mines, Works, Quarries and Machinery Act (MQWM) and other relevant legislative requirements
