To coordinate the successful execution of blasting operations and providing value add Blasting Technical support to the customer for enhancement of mining productivities. This position is also responsible of leading and guiding the blasting crew to safely perform the blasting activities.

Key Responsibilities
Provide blasting technical support to the customer
Drive and promote safe use of Explosives at all times
Conduct technical projects, new business projects, and all value-add projects for Motheo Copper Mine.
Conduct product conversions and introductions to customer
Conduct research and generate recommendations to customers for improved and safe blasting practices
Communicate and interpret the blast design data to customer and ensure competent operation of the blasting tools
Liaise with the customer on all blasting related technical issues
Conduct and facilitate technically related training and occasional refreshers to the customer for safe and efficient use of explosives
Attend to customer complaints, problems and issues relating to quality and performance of the explosives
Product Quality management for the business
Liaison with customer’s upper and middle management in order to accurately plan production and resource requirements in the medium and short terms
Assist the Site Manager to manage the World Class system implementation and its application to his area of responsibility and constantly strive towards continuous improvement
Assist Management in implementing company values
Ensure that all Standards relating to explosives and their application and quality are adhered to at all times and regularly audited
Requirements
At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Mining related discipline
At least 5 years’ experience in an Explosives Handling Open Pit Mining environment at least 2 of which were at Senior Technical Officer level
Strong blasting technical skills
Explosives Engineers Certificate or any blasting related technical training
Be in possession of a valid driver’s License
Be a Botswana Citizen
Be in possession of a valid Open Pit Blasting Licence
Must be fluent in both Setswana and English
Good understanding of the Explosives Act and, the Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Act (MQWM) and other relevant legislative requirements
Knowledge of and experience in AECI’s electronic blasting products is an added advantage
