The Princes’ foundation for children in Africa
Sentebale is looking for 3 Community Health workers who can join the team to drive the mandate of creating sustainable solutions that address issues of health, socio-economic empowerment and climate resilience in Botswana through a project that aims to address the urgent health and human rights challenges faced by adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Adolescent Boys and Young Men (ABYM), both in-school and out-of-school, in Botswana. Through a comprehensive approach to HIV prevention, this project will focus on HIV testing, condom education and distribution, stigma reduction, human rights advocacy, and the commemoration of World AIDS Day. The program will integrate Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) as a key tool for promoting rights-based programming, increasing accountability, and ensuring that services meet the needs of youth populations.
Applications are invited from suitable and qualified individuals for the position of Consultant Community Health Workers for the period of eight months in Gaborone.
Duties include
• Community mapping
• Facilitation of HIV/NCDs/GBV prevention messaging
• Screening for NCDs, GBV and STIs
• Referrals for HIV testing and counseling, post GBV care, STI treatment and care
• Follow-up referrals to relevant stakeholders.
• Provide narrative reports and financial receipts.
• Plan and prepare for all network club activities.
• Mobilize participants for sessions
• Facilitate all network club activities.
• Community mobilization and engagement
Qualifications/ Requirements
• BGCSE or equivalent, a certificate in community health care or public health education will be an added advantage
• At least 1 year of work experience in health care, community health, or social services field
Competency
• Advanced facilitation skills
• Strong organizational skills with ability to deal with numerous priorities concurrently.
• Ability to work in the community and with minimal supervision.
• Capacity to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Fluent in Setswana and English
• Computer literate
• Applicants should be residing within the community/duty station.
