Are you passionate about driving athlete development and building sustainable sports structures? The Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and experienced professional to join our team as Sport Development Manager (Technical).
Purpose of the Role:
The incumbent will lead the implementation of BAA’s coach and athlete development programmes, focusing on building sustainable structures at club and national levels. Key areas include talent identification, competition delivery, coaching development, and execution of the BAA strategic plan. This is a pivotal role in shaping the future of athletics in Botswana.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute national programmes for athlete and coach development
Lead the design and implementation of coaching, training, and competition frameworks
Manage elite team selection and ensure adherence to international standards
Promote public awareness and increase participation in athletics
Build strategic relationships with stakeholders, clubs, and partners
Drive implementation of Safe Sport and Anti-Doping policies
Monitor and manage BAA facilities and infrastructure
Oversee departmental budgeting and human capital development
Maintain up-to-date databases of athletes, coaches, and officials
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science, Sport Administration, or equivalent
A postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in sport development or administration
Strong knowledge of sport development systems, particularly within Botswana
Proven leadership, strategic planning, and programme management abilities
