LVCT Health is an indigenous Kenyan non-governmental and not-for-profit organization established in 2001. We are driving Kenya towards HIV prevention, with an ultimate goal of reducing HIV infections to zero. We also carry out sexual and reproductive health research – translating our research to policy and practice; providing evidence for HIV policy reforms and service delivery; and developing capacities of indigenous organizations in building sustainable human resources for community HIV Prevention. We give special attention to those with greatest vulnerability to infection and with special service needs – including survivors of sexual violence, persons living with disabilities, men who have sex with men, Youth and Sex Workers. Our offices are in Nairobi, Western Region, Eastern and Central Region and Rift Valley.
We seek a highly qualified and motivated individual to to lead the identification, development, and coordination of funding opportunities that enable LVCT Health to deliver its mission and strategic priorities. The person will strengthen LVCT Health’s resource mobilisation by cultivating funder relationships, developing high-quality funding proposals, and supporting a diversified income portfolio aligned with organisational strategy.
Roles and Responsibilities Strategic Resource Mobilization
Lead the identification and development of funding opportunities from foundations, high-net-individuals, donors and social investors in line with LVCT Health’s business development strategy
Establish and manage a robust, multi-year funding pipeline, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities
Lead the development of high-quality, winning concepts and proposals that are competitive and aligned to lvct health’s strategy
Manage pre-solicitation proposal preparations and bid planning; participate in pre-design meetings and drafting sections of the proposal in advance of the solicitation; coordinate and facilitate design workshops
Manage proposal review process and check budget alignment, responsiveness and compliance with donor guidelines
Contribute to collecting and sharing proposal process lessons learnt after submission
Collaborate closely with the Communications team to transform LVCT Health’s research and impact data into compelling pitches for funders
External engagements and networking:
Identify, establish and nurture relationships with strategic partners (academic institutions, NGOs, CSOs, private sector firms) to leverage collective strengths in competitive calls for proposals
Support technical leads to develop organisational capability statements in coordination with the communications team in readiness for fundraising
Build effective working relationships with partners on proposal bids; support the management of consultants recruited to support proposal development
Network with strategic donors, collecting strategic intelligence on opportunities, updating the donor and partners contacts and database for continuous engagement
Enhance visibility and influence across diverse donor ecosystems through proactive networking and strategic negotiations
Internal Capacity Building
Champion a fundraising culture by training and mentoring the business development team and program leads on “resource mobilization mindsets” and identifying funding opportunities within their projects
Safeguarding
Adhere to LVCT Health safeguarding principles as defined within the safeguarding and related policies; and
Any other responsibilities assigned to the jobholder by the supervisor from time to time
Competency Criteria
Education
Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in International Development, Business, Public Policy, or related fields from a recognised institution
Experience
Institutional and bilateral funding (foundations, embassies, multilaterals)
Philanthropic and private foundations, including relationship-based engagement
Innovative funds including Corporates and social investment funds
Project-based and competitive funding calls, including concept notes and full proposals
Development and management of strategic partnerships and consortia, including academic, NGO, and private-sector collaborations
A minimum of seven (7+) years in a senior fundraising position
