MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide team leadership in the design, development, and implementation of the university management information systems (MIS).
Provide timely and professional first-line technical support for LMS, Microsoft Navision ERP and SMIS to students and staff via phone, email, or in person
Ensure the smooth running of all university ICT systems including campus network infrastructure, internet services, server infrastructure, campus CCTV security, virtual server infrastructure, firewalls, LMS, Microsoft Navision ERP, Library system, SMIS, staff management system, antivirus software’s, print services, O365 and email services, Computer labs and related software etc.
Plan, organize, maintain, and manage the processes and operations of ICT. Supervise the activities of ICT to include: planning, implementing, administering and evaluating projects and services impacting university operations from a technology services perspective.
Develop, recommend, and administer ICT policies, procedures, and processes in support of Technology operations in ICT; implement and monitor compliance with approved policies, procedures, and processes.
Provide effective leadership, supervision and a safe work environment within the ICT team; provide ICT staff performance management.
Installation and configuration of new hardware and software systems;
Maintain up-to-date network, servers, and other systems documentation;
Maintain knowledge of latest technology, equipment and terms of service agreements;
Evaluate alternatives, perform appropriate cost benefit analysis and recommend ICT solutions, as required
Develop and maintain system recovery plans in the event of power failure, damage to systems etc
Supervise and participate in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of applicable technologies and associated equipment.
Participate in the development and administration of ICT budget; implements and allocates resources following budget approval.
Participate in/on a variety of meetings, committees, and/or other related groups requiring ICT representation.
Acts as a resource to other departments within the university in order to provide information on available resources, programs, and/or services.
Carry out system audits on the utilization and viability of the University software’s and systems;
Regularly follow up with users and verify that their issues have been resolved and ICT needs are being met.
Ensure security and integrity of the university ICT systems, manage access control to ensure that only authorized individuals are granted access to university systems.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all hardware, software licenses, and IT assets, ensuring accurate documentation and tracking of assets throughout their lifecycle.
Supervise, implement and improve on data security protocols (data saving, firewall, User Access right, backup, security for equipment and software, etc.) to ensure data security, availability, and immediate operational recovery and continuity in case of emergency;
Providing regular activity reports and ICT Monthly reports
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science from a recognized institution. Masters degree is an added advantage
Industry professional Certification in database administration, software development, systems and network management are added advantage
A minimum of eight (8) years’ working experience with at least five(5) years in a senior role,preferably in a university or similar institution.
Experience and knowledge in software development using Node js, React JS, Django Rest framework
Broad knowledge of industry standards and best practices in the use of technology in institutions of higher learning
Strong interpersonal skills, communication and organizational skills.
Good customer service skills.
