In 1998, CURE International, in cooperation with the African Inland Church, opened the AIC-CURE International Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya. Along with being CURE’s first hospital, CURE Kenya was Africa’s first orthopedic pediatric teaching hospital for children with disabilities. The 30-bed hospita… read morel provides care for children suffering from a wide range of orthopedic conditions, such as clubfoot, burn contractures, osteomyelitis, and other acquired or congenital conditions. The hospital also conducts mobile clinics to identify children in remote areas who can be treated at the hospital and to provide follow-up care for those who have received surgery. Located in the Rift Valley city of Kijabe, the hospital attracts patients from every region of the country. Through the training of surgeons, nurses, and healthcare professionals, CURE Kenya aims to improve the country’s overall capacity to treat disabled children.
To undertake plastering procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines while maintaining the hospital quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Document the condition and progress of patients and report to the relevant medical staff any areas of concern.
Undertake plastering procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines
Assist the departmental staff in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all policies and procedures
Comply with all Hospital policies with particular regard to the policies and procedures carried out in maintaining staff and patient safety
Report all accidents to the Rehab in-Charge and complete an incident form
Ensure that the rights, dignity and confidentiality of the patient are protected at all times
Be responsible for maintaining, cleaning and restocking of the plaster room materials
To locate appropriate equipment used by the plaster room staff, ensuring the equipment is maintained, Health and Safety checked
To undertake designated administration duties to enable the continuity of patient care
Ensure compliance with all the requirements of the quality management system (Safecare)
To liaise with and communicate with all members of the multi-disciplinary team as necessary in order to ensure the smooth running of the service
Assist in the application and removal of all types of casts / splints and other areas of patient rehabilitation as requested both in the in-patient and out- patient
To undertake any other duties that may be required, in addition to those attached relating to your specific area
Be responsible to provide plaster care education and information to patients and their careers, so that they have an understanding of the appropriate care that is needed as complications may occur.
Be legally responsible and accountable, caring, compassionate and professional at all times
Manage clinical risk, adhere to standards of patient care, treatment protocols and documentation standards for the facility
Perform all key functions with regard to plaster technology and additional, other related functions as directed and also adhering to standards of performance as required by the institution
Travel to remote mobile clinics as directed to coordinate and enhance functions between our facility and partner clinics for betterment of patient care
In-charge of all quality activities in relation to this position as per the Hospital Standards.
