Job Summary
The Specialist Process Engineer is accountable for the integrity, governance, and operational effectiveness of enterprise process content across Absa. Acting as a recognised subject matter expert, the role defines and enforces process modelling standards, governs the end to end publishing lifecycle, and enables sustainable organisational capability in the use of process architecture platforms. The role operates with a high degree of autonomy, influencing platform design, control frameworks, and governance outcomes that directly impact regulatory confidence and operational risk.
Job Description
Enterprise Process Quality & Governance
Serve as an authoritative specialist on process modelling quality, metadata integrity, and publication governance across OrbusInfinity, SharePoint, and related repositories.
Define, enforce, and continuously improve quality assurance controls across modelling, quality review, publishing, and unpublishing processes.
Exercise professional judgement to determine readiness of process artefacts for publication and removal, balancing speed of delivery with governance, risk, and audit requirements.
Repository Integrity & Risk Mitigation
Own the specialist oversight of data accuracy, completeness, and consistency within enterprise process repositories, including remediation of legacy and migrated content.
Identify systemic quality, governance, and control weaknesses and design preventative measures to mitigate operational, compliance, and audit risk.
Ensure alignment between modelling tools, publication sites, and supporting metadata to maintain trusted “single‑source‑of‑truth” process information.
Platform Enablement & Capability Development
Act as an enablement resource for business units by designing and delivering targeted coaching, training, and support interventions for modellers and Quality Reviewers.
Develop authoritative guidance material, standards artefacts, and support aids that reduce dependency on central teams and improve modelling maturity at scale.
Mentor Quality Reviewers and key stakeholders, addressing capability gaps while reinforcing accountability for process quality and ownership.
Workflow Design, Automation Enablement
Lead contribution to publishing and unpublishing workflow design & maintenance, including collaboration with engineering and platform teams on automated governance controls.
Identify and assess opportunities for workflow optimisation and automation that enhance control effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Influence & Operational Assurance
Partner with Enterprise Architecture, governance forums, and platform teams to shape enterprise‑wide process governance practices.
Maintain transparent reporting and oversight of publishing and unpublishing activity to support informed decision‑making and audit readiness.
Final specialist sign‑off authority on process quality and publication readiness within defined governance frameworks.
Recommend changes to standards, controls, workflows, and enablement approaches where quality or risk thresholds are not met.
Escalate material governance or integrity risks but independently resolve complex operational and quality issues.
Knowledge, Experience & Competence
Essential:
Deep expertise in business process modelling, quality assurance, and repository governance within large, regulated organisations.
Demonstrated experience operating as a subject‑matter expert for process architecture platforms (e.g. OrbusInfinity / iServer / Aris or similar).
Strong track record of designing controls, enablement models, and governance mechanisms rather than only executing defined procedures.
High credibility in influencing without authority and engaging senior technical and business stakeholders.
Strong coaching, facilitation, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
Advantageous:
Experience contributing to enterprise remediation programmes.
Exposure to workflow automation and control design using low‑code or automation tooling (e.g. Power Automate).
Strong appreciation of operational risk, audit, and regulatory expectations in financial services.
KPIs
Success is measured through governance maturity, reduced rework, improved audit outcomes, and sustainable capability uplift, rather than task throughput alone.
