Community Oral Health Officer (COHO)

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, competent, and experienced
Community Oral Health Officer
to join our dynamic Dental Department.
Key Responsibilities
Provide preventive, promotive, and basic curative oral healthcare services within the approved scope of practice.
Conduct oral examinations, diagnose common oral diseases, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Perform scaling and polishing, simple dental extractions, atraumatic restorative treatment (ART), and other approved dental procedures.
Educate patients and communities on oral hygiene, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices.
Participate in community oral health outreach programmes and school health initiatives.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper documentation of all services rendered.
Observe and uphold infection prevention and control standards in the dental clinic.
Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and care of dental equipment and instruments.
Refer patients requiring specialized dental care appropriately.
Participate in continuous professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
Registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Valid practicing license.
Minimum of three (3) years’ post-qualification experience in a reputable hospital or dental clinic.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and teamwork.
Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
