Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions.
Conduct comprehensive medical examinations and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Prescribe medications and monitor patients’ responses to treatment.
Perform minor medical procedures within the scope of practice.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide life-saving interventions when required.
Admit, review, and discharge patients with appropriate documentation.
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records.
Request, interpret, and act on laboratory and diagnostic test results.
Refer patients to specialists or higher levels of care when necessary.
Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, treatment plans, and healthy lifestyle practices.
Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and multidisciplinary case discussions.
Supervise and mentor interns, clinical officers, nurses, and other junior healthcare staff where applicable.
Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and Continuing Medical Education CME.
Adhere to professional ethics, hospital policies, and relevant healthcare regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery MBChB or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Valid registration and a practicing license from the relevant medical regulatory authority.
Current Basic Life Support BLS certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS certification will be an added advantage.
At least 3 years of progressive clinical experience, including 2 years of experience in an Intensive Care Unit ICU.
