Job Purpose:
Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of our client, a financial institution that provides lending solutions to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises is seeking an experienced, proactive, and results-driven Operations Manager to lead the company day to day activities.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the institution, ensuring efficient loan processing, customer service excellence, regulatory compliance, risk management, and operational efficiency.
The role focuses on driving business growth while maintaining high portfolio quality, strong internal controls, and an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring efficient loan processing, disbursement, administration, and service delivery across all operational units.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, service standards, and workflow efficiencies to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.
Manage the end-to-end loan lifecycle, ensuring compliance with credit policies, timely processing, accurate documentation, secure custody of loan files, and adherence to turnaround times (TATs).
Monitor and optimize loan portfolio performance by tracking Portfolio at Risk (PAR), arrears, recoveries, and working closely with the credit and collections teams to minimize delinquency and non-performing loans.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies by strengthening operational controls, mitigating risks, preventing fraud, and coordinating internal and external audits.
Drive exceptional customer experience by ensuring high service standards, resolving escalated customer issues, and continuously improving customer onboarding and loan servicing processes.
Monitor operational and financial performance through data analysis, preparation of periodic management reports, and tracking of key operational and portfolio performance indicators to support informed decision-making.
Support business growth and operational excellence by identifying process improvement opportunities, enhancing operational efficiency, and implementing initiatives that improve productivity, portfolio quality, and overall organizational performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Economics, Operations Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in operations within a microfinance institution, SACCO, digital lending company, commercial bank, or financial services organization.
At least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Demonstrated experience managing lending operations and loan administration.
Strong understanding of microfinance operations, credit processes, collections, and regulatory requirements.
