Job Description

Job Summary
Responsible for the end-to-end installation, configuration, hardening, and administration of UNIX/Linux server environments, with specialized focus on Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) Cluster Development and deployment.
Key Responsibilities & Operational Duties
Server Provisioning & Storage Management:
Install, configure, and administer UNIX/Linux servers (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Solaris/AIX).
Standardize OS builds, baseline configurations, and system hardening.
Configure and manage storage, filesystems (LVM, multipath, NFS), mount strategies, and performance resilience.
System Security, Access & Networking:
Manage user/group administration, sudo policies, PAM controls, and least-privilege access rules.
Configure network settings (IP, routing, DNS, NTP, firewall rules) to ensure seamless connectivity to application and database tiers.
Implement security controls: patching cadence, CIS-benchmark hardening, SSH policies, audit logging, and endpoint protection integration.
Automation, Performance & Infrastructure Collaboration:
Automate repetitive administrative tasks using shell scripting and frameworks such as Ansible.
Manage service lifecycles (systemd/init), log rotation, CPU/RAM/disk I/O tuning, and incident root-cause analysis.
Configure middleware/application prerequisites (kernel parameters, ulimits, file descriptors, shared libraries).
Liaise with network, storage, and security teams regarding VLANs, load balancers, certificates, and firewall approvals.
Governance, Cutover & Documentation:
Adhere to ITIL change management processes (raising RFCs, implementing approved changes, documenting decisions).
Participate in project milestones: readiness checks, cutover execution, deployment support, and hypercare.
Produce build guides, support runbooks, hardening evidence, and handover packages.

Requirements & Key Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5 years post-NYSC professional experience in UNIX/Linux administration.
Specialized Expertise:
Hands-on experience with the setup, deployment, and administration of OLVM (Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager) Clusters.
Direct experience working on OLVM Cluster Development projects (VGC).
