About the job
The Creative Writing and Literacy Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Port Harcourt. There are two positions. One position is a literacy teacher for Upper Primary and another Creative writing Teacher for Upper Primary.
You will r will design and deliver engaging literacy and creative writing lessons that develop reading comprehension, writing fluency, vocabulary, and critical thinking in learners.
Daily responsibilities include planning and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records of student performance.
The teacher will create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment, integrate Montessori and student-centered teaching methods, and collaborate with colleagues and the school leadership to support curriculum development.
The role also involves regular communication with parents and guardians, participation in staff meetings and school events, and ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Education and Teaching principles, with experience in literacy and creative writing instruction.
Proficiency in Lesson Planning and curriculum implementation, including designing engaging, age-appropriate learning activities.
Effective Communication skills for interacting with learners, families, and colleagues, and for providing clear written and verbal feedback.
Experience in Training and mentoring learners, with the ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field; a teaching certification or qualification is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom, maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, and uphold school values.
Familiarity with Montessori or similar child-centered educational approaches is desirable.
Commitment to professional ethics, continuous learning, and collaboration within a school community.
