About the role

The Lease Controller is responsible for the maintenance high integrity and updating of lease data within approved systems and otherwise, accurate record-keeping and analysis of data, for the purpose of providing strategic insights on the portfolio.

Lease Data Management:

Maintain an up-to-date lease database with accurate records of all lease agreements, amendments, and key terms
Review lease contracts for compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Manage lease-related correspondence with landlords, property managers, and internal stakeholders

​​​​​​​Reporting:

Generate contract and portfolio reports and provide insights on movements
Support governance reporting

​​​​​​​Document Management:

Ensure both electronic and physical filing of lease documentation, in line with company and client policies and procedures

​​​​​​​Financial and Compliance Management:

Assist in lease cost analysis and variance reporting for financial planning and budgeting.
Monitor and reconcile lease payments, ensuring accuracy in rent calculations, escalations, and service charges.
Work closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with contractual financial obligations.

​​​​​​​Lease Payment Reconciliation:

Assist in lease cost analysis and variance reporting for financial planning and budgeting.
Monitor and reconcile lease payments, ensuring accuracy in rent calculations, escalations, and service charges.
Work closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with contractual financial obligations.

​​​​​​​People Management:

Effectively lead and manage a team of data/lease administrators ensuring that data integrity is prioritised and deadlines are met.

​​​​​​​Client Excellence: 

Ensure zero involvement in incidents attributable to any illegal or wrongful act, conduct or omission (including negligence) nor service failure

This position has the authority to:

Execute assigned tasks under supervision of the Account Executive
No independent approval, financial, or contractual authority
Escalate risks, delays, or uncertainties promptly
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or Information Systems
Experience in Real Estate/Lease Management would be an added advantage.
5+ years of experience in data/business analysis and people management.
Strong knowledge of IFRS 16 lease accounting and financial reconciliation.
Experience in working with lease management systems and financial reporting tools.
Familiarity with lease agreements, rent calculations, and service charge reconciliations
