Key Responsibilities
Quality & Accreditation: Maintain and improve quality control systems to ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and international testing standards.
Method Development: Research, develop, and optimize testing methodologies; conduct trials and assess changes to standard test methods.
Validation: Identify validation criteria, perform validations, and compile validation reports for new and existing methods.
Technical Oversight: Perform internal calibrations and verifications on equipment to ensure accuracy and fitness for purpose.
Problem Solving: Investigate non-conformances, customer queries and PT deviations using root cause analysis to implement corrective actions.
Stakeholder Influence: Provide technical guidance to Team Managers and Process Controllers regarding quality of testing and sample preparation.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Education: BEng (Metallurgy and Material Science) or BSc (Hons) Material Science (NQF Level 8).
Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ relevant laboratory experience at technician level. 3-4 years would be ideal.
Technical Expertise: Proven knowledge of mechanical/metallurgical testing, statistics, and quality control systems.
ISO 17025: Experience as a Technical Signatory in an accredited laboratory is a distinct advantage.
Skills: Advanced data analysis, method validation using statistical tools, and in-depth root cause analysis.
