ROLE SUMMARY

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?  

To manage Distribution Centre or Cross Dock to ensure alignment with the overall business strategy, enable the value chain, and contributes to BAT South Africa’s Customer Service, Volume, Market Share, and Cost Compression
The primary function of this role is to be accountable for and manage Compliance at the depot for Secondary Supply Chain.
Specifically, the role holder is responsible for ensuring all regulatory requirements are met with respect to the execution of logistics movements for the depots & cross docks.
The position is to ensure that all aspects of the Onsite Warehouse Logistics processes and systems, as executed by the Logistics Service Provider (3PL) and BAT
Logistics staff are compliant with internal controls and statutory requirements.
The role holder will ensure management of outsource partners and delivering savings ratios in a safe, well-governed, and responsible manner.
To obtain service standardization and synergies across the Secondary Supply Chain.
Drive projects and continuous improvement initiatives at the depot to achieve and report Logistics cost savings opportunities

ACCOUNTABILITIES

To be accountable for and manage Transport & Warehouses for Secondary Supply Chain at the depot.
To provide strategic and tactical direction to the Secondary Supply Chain warehousing & Transport suppliers to enable the delivery of significant savings in warehousing and compliance (including custom house brokerage) spend.
To ensure standardised supplier metrics such as OTIF (On Time In Full, Warehousing cost) and appropriate behaviours in SA to obtain unified performance measures and consistent high level of service.
Ensure that adequate records are kept of the movement and storage of goods (within scope) are met.
To have prime commercial and contractual ownership and control of the Secondary Supply Warehousing budget for the depot.
To obtain service standardization and synergies across Secondary Supply Chain Main warehouse in Heidelberg.
Assist in ensuring orders received in SAP as per customer requirement & all bulk picks are checked correctly from the orders received in SAP.
Assist with the Invoices & the required documents are printed for the picking of the orders.
To develop and initiate, implement and monitor stock count processes and procedures and report any deviations.
Drive projects and continuous improvement initiatives at the depot to achieve and report Logistics cost savings.
Ensure the depot warehouse and compliance records are maintained and provided as per BAT best practice and local regulations & SOX compliance.
Comply with EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment within the Secondary Supply Chain Depot.
Continuous communication with Route Planning team to ensure calibration of master data to meet customers changing needs as well as ensuring KMs driven are accurate.
Ensure comprehensive feedback and analysis of Left on boards (LOB’S), Returns and Non-deliveries daily
Old/Obsolete stock and blocked stock management including customer returns.
Manage communication and resolution of failed IDOCS.
Ensure timely and accurate compilation and submission of Daily, Weekly & Monthly depot reports.
Conduct daily local DDS meeting & attend National DDS meeting.
Assist in Logistics Regression testing.
Logistics BCP (Business Continuity Plans) and BIA (Business Impact Analysis) is in place, workable and updated.
Consolidation sign off and submission of month end stock take for warehouse for month end Finance reporting.
Drive a proactive culture of root cause analysis, continuous improvement, openness and excellent customer service.
To ensure excellent relationships with the following key external stakeholders: 3PLs, External Audit and Government Agencies to ensure smooth and efficient logistics operations and services.
The job holder must operate within the following legal requirements and has a personal responsibility to adhere to:OHS Act, EHS Principles, Labour Law, Customs & Excise requirements etc.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL
Knowledge/Qualifications:

High Level of Supply Chain knowledge, Logistics expertise is a key success factor for this role. Detailed knowledge is required across a range of Logistics activities including logistics best practice, warehousing, 3rd party and supplier management
Matric / Grade 12 with 5 years plus experience in a Logistics, Supply Chain/Commercial/Trade environment or a Tertiary qualification in Logistics with 2 years’ experience
Good knowledge of relevant computer systems & programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
High level of SAP understanding (IM & Warehouse management module experience)
Knowledge of the statutory requirements regarding Excise and Customs required
Knowledge of EH&S and Pest Management Principles
