Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Planning [cite: 47]
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with goals[cite: 48].
Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning[cite: 49].
Advise executive leadership on resource allocation[cite: 50].
Financial Management & Operations [cite: 51]
Oversee accounting, auditing, procurement, payroll, and treasury operations[cite: 52].
Ensure absolute accuracy and integrity in all financial statements[cite: 53, 54].
Monitor and manage cash flow, investments, and financial risks[cite: 55].
Compliance & Policy Development
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal/external audits[cite: 56, 57, 59].
Present periodic financial reports to the university council, regulatory bodies, and donors[cite: 60].
Spearheads policy development and primary point of contact for policy interpretation[cite: 61, 62].
Resource Mobilisation & Team Leadership
Lead initiatives to improve revenue generation (grants, partnerships, endowments)[cite: 63, 64].
Manage relationships with banks, donors, and government agencies[cite: 66].
Supervise, develop, and foster accountability within the Finance Department staff[cite: 67, 68, 69].
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration[cite: 73].
Professional certification (ZICA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent) is essential[cite: 74].
3-5 years senior-level financial management experience, preferably in higher education[cite: 75, 76].
Strong knowledge of IFRS, public finance laws, and university funding models[cite: 77].
Competencies:
Proficiency in financial systems/ERP software, deep analytical and financial modeling capacity, extreme integrity, and high-level strategy mindset[cite: 79, 81, 83, 84].
