    Main Purpose of the Job:
     
     
    As a Mining Engineering Specialist, you will play a critical role in the strategic management and technical oversight of MDCB’s mining investment portfolio. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the optimal deployment of resources and industry-leading practices to maximize portfolio performance.
    You will contribute to the conceptualization, planning, execution, and closure phases of the mineral development life cycle. You will work closely with stakeholders to identify and develop sustainable solutions, drive value optimization, and explore opportunities for value creation. Your expertise will contribute to making MDCB a leader in the minerals investment sector in Botswana.
     
     
    Key Responsibilities:
     
     

    Strategic and Economic Initiatives: Work with various stakeholders to identify, conceptualize, and evaluate mining projects that align with strategic goals, focusing on optimizing operational efficiency and maximizing returns.
    Technical Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive technical and financial assessments on potential mining investments, identifying risks, opportunities, and solutions to ensure informed and value-based decision-making.
    Asset Optimization: Review both open pit and underground mine designs, production plans, and equipment selection to ensure these elements align with industry benchmarks and maximize investor returns.
    Compliance & Reporting: Monitor mining project activities with internal and external regulations, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting. Provide updates on asset performance, technical developments, and investment progress.
    Innovation: Champion research, assess, and recommend innovative technologies and processes to improve operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability.

    Multi-commodity experience is an added advantage
    Registered professional engineer status is an added advantage
    Registration with a professional body
