Job Purpose
Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of our client, a manufacturerof packaging materials is looking for a Quality Assurance Supervisor. They will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products consistently meet established quality standards and customer specifications. The role oversees daily quality assurance operations, supervises quality personnel, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality management systems, and company policies to minimize defects and improve production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise daily quality assurance activities and provide technical support to the quality team on the production floor.
• Inspect and verify raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards before release.
• Monitor production processes, identify quality deviations, and collaborate with production teams to implement corrective actions.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for non-conforming products and oversee the implementation and follow-up of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs), quality reports, and maintain accurate quality documentation and inspection records.
• Investigate customer complaints, recommend corrective measures, and monitor implementation to prevent recurrence.
• Chair CAPA meetings in the absence of the Head of Quality and document meeting minutes and action plans.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and safe for use, including preparation of testing chemicals where required.
• Manage sample retention, laboratory organization, housekeeping, and adherence to established quality procedures.
• Supervise, schedule, and manage Quality Inspectors and Glue Mixing Personnel, including shift planning, leave management, and performance support.
• Train employees on quality standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and other quality management procedures.
• Monitor compliance with ISO standards, company quality management systems, health and safety regulations, and manufacturing best practices.
• Analyse quality performance trends, recommend continuous improvement initiatives, and support the achievement of production quality objectives.
• Liaise with internal departments, including Production, Sales, Human Resources, Stores, and Procurement, to resolve quality-related issues and improve operational efficiency.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Quality, ISO & ESG or Management in support of departmental and organizational objectives.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Industrial Chemistry, Quality Assurance or related.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Quality Assurance within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the paper, packaging, printing, or flexible packaging industry will be an added
advantage.
• Previous supervisory experience is highly desirable.
