Job Summary
The Planning and Procurement Manager is responsible for sourcing pharmaceutical products and raw materials from approved manufacturers, managing supplier relationships, coordinating procurement activities, and ensuring efficient inventory management from the point of purchase through delivery to the company’s warehouse.
The role ensures product availability while maintaining quality, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities
Identify, evaluate, and onboard reputable pharmaceutical manufacturers and suppliers.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with local and international manufacturing companies.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, and payment terms with suppliers.
Coordinate procurement activities from purchase order creation through final delivery.
Track shipments and monitor the movement of goods from manufacturers until receipt at the warehouse.
Ensure timely procurement to prevent stock shortages and supply disruptions.
Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock availability.
Implement inventory control procedures to minimize stock losses, expiry, and overstocking.
Collaborate with Warehouse and Logistics, and Finance teams to ensure smooth operations.Verify that all procured products meet regulatory and quality standards.
Maintain procurement records, supplier databases, and inventory reports.Monitor supplier performance and recommend improvements where necessary.
Analyze procurement and inventory data to support business decisions and cost optimization.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and relevant pharmaceutical regulations.
Procure Raw materials required for production in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Collaborate with the Sales Force and field teams to monitor competitor product availability in the market, identifying periods of product scarcity, oversupply, and changes in market availability trends.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline.
Professional certification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Inventory Management e.g., CIPS, CISCM, ISM is an added advantage.
3–5 years of experience in procurement, inventory management, or supply chain management, preferably in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
