The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
Effective and efficient supervision of the mining crew to achieve production targets
Plan, schedule and control activities to ensure availability of resources, materials and equipment
Effective management of materials, consumables and explosives
Participate in waiting place / pre-shift meetings and ensure parameters relating to quality, quantity, cost and safety are understood
Team and self-perform drilling, blasting, lashing, shaft lining and equipping to standard
Team and self-understand and comply with M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards
Proactive risk identification and mitigation in compliance with DMR, M&RC and Client’s safety requirements
Effective self-management and alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent
Blasting Certificate
Basic Rigging Certificate
Onsetter Certificate [advantageous]
Licence to Supervise or equivalent supervisory qualification
Valid First Aid Certificate
Supervisory skills
Proficient in Microsoft [Word and Excel]
Planning and organising skills
Good English verbal and written communication skills
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
At least 4 years as Vertical Shaft Equipper with experience in heavy steel erection, underground construction, re-enforcing and form work
Experience in effective team supervision and planning, organising and control of activities to achieve production targets
Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Working knowledge of bulk heads, conveyor belts, tip and box fronts
