  • Senior Technician: Instruments Maintenance (Hay Level 15/C4) Administrative Officer (Hay Level 11/B4) ( 2 Posts)

    Key Performance Areas:

    Adhere to calibration/ maintenance plans that has to assist in transforming NLS into a profitable and sustainable business entity.

    Develop and coordinate Schedule Maintenance and Calibration actions for each year
    Ensure that plans are adhered to by completing tasks on time and hand over facilities to labs on time.
    Respond to logged calls by supported labs within 48 hours.
    Execute proactive procurement to ensure that all required spares are available on time.

    Product and Service Development Contribute 

    Participate in research and development as well as implementation of the new laboratories, instrumentation, equipment, machinery, monitors and utilities when required.
    Perform activities stipulated in the project schedule for the implementation of new products and services.

    Comply with protocols of the laboratory regarding internal and external communications to maintain established service level agreements

    Update the Section head or team leader weekly in terms of status of work performed (maintenance or calibrations as per plan) including status of equipment or instruments downtime.
    Participate in the implementation and maintenance of a proper lab asset management system that adheres to the international best practice such as ISO 55001.
    Establish good relationships with suppliers to obtain quotes on time, follow up quotes and orders regularly and adhere to SCM procedures.

    Adhere to internal laboratory requirements to improve level of efficiency in business operations in order to produce highest number of quality products and services following responsible business practices.

    Perform and document maintenance/ calibrations actions in compliance to all applicable instructions and procedures by adhering to the requirements of the quality system and OEM in the laboratory such as QM, Procedures and SANAS requirements.
    Ensure adherence to Health & Safety aspects.  Ensure that safety and housekeeping are maintained to the required standard as required and fulfil the role of BBS observer and perform observations as contracted.
    Assist section head with the review or updating information for development and implementation of calibration methods and spreadsheets on the new digital/analog monitors when requested.
    Adhere to actions identified to close out NCR’s.
    Develop and manage an equipment / asset register to demonstrate the age of all equipment and their replacement plan especially for the labs responsible.

    Assist the laboratory to maintain a robust and efficient by acquiring more knowledge through continuous development.

    Adhere to the individual training matrix/plans to ensure that new knowledge is acquired.
    Attend identified courses to increase knowledge required in the laboratory.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    Diploma/ Degree: Electrical Engineering or Analytical Instrumentation, or Industrial Physics or equivalent
    5-10 or more years’ experience in development, manufacturing, maintenance and repair preferably on analytical instruments.
    4 years practical experience of Microsoft Excel and MS Word.
    Trained in SANAS ISO/IEC 17025 Systems.
    Registered Radiation & Chemical Worker.

  • Senior Superintendent (North West) Civil Engineering Graduate (North West)

    Description

    The role exists to execute multiple large and small-scale projects. Oversee safety, risk, technical and commercial management. Overall systems, processes and people management. Interact verbally with operations teams, clients and senior operations management and horizontally with broad business operations in the Division.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Business/Functional Management

    Execute project responsibilities in line with organisational strategy, in order to achieve set goals.
    Effectively utilise resources in line with project strategy, to ensure effective project delivery.

    Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

    Implement financial, commercial and contracts management processes and procedures, as set by the organisation, and give inputs to contracts structuring.
    Monitor programme by marking up and taking corrective action where necessary.

    Risk Management & Compliance, incl. ESG responsibility

    Ensure all project risks and opportunities are identified, and mitigating actions implemented and monitored; as well as aligning all stakeholders as is relevant, for their area of responsibility; elevate risks as appropriate.

    Stakeholder Management (Internal/External)

    Promote ongoing open communication with Client representatives such as Resident Engineer and other key internal stakeholders to foster good relations, through appropriate forums and interfaces.

    Operations & Project Management

    Implement and execute management and production controls, measures and reports for a specific site, taking corrective action to ensure effective and efficient delivery of site project objectives.

    Management of Operating System & Reporting

    Implement appropriate management operating system, including forecasts, plans, targets, controls, measures, data management and trend analysis, reports and forums, for the site, to ensure effective management decision-making, performance management and corrective action.

    Technical Management

    Implement relevant quality and technical standards as agreed for the site.
    Fulfil required duties as per regulatory appointment to ensure technical standards are met and maintained on Site.

    SHEQ Management

    Establish and manage the site’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality plans in accordance with the latest mining and tailings regulations as well as company policy and procedural provisions.

    Staff Management

    Coach, mentor and develop staff as appropriate to improve performance.
    Monitor and manage performance of subordinate staff in compliance with the Performance Management policy and processes.

    Culture & Climate

    Ensure a positive work context is established for all internal and subcontracting staff on the site. 
    Build a culture of continuous improvement for the duration of the project.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Degree or B-Tech qualification in Mining / Metallurgical /Civil Engineering or similar
    Project management qualification would be advantageous

    EXPERIENCE

    Minimum five years relevant experience in respect of managing tailings and/or remining sites
    General Mining Production experience would be an advantage
    Experience in planning and setting up tailings projects, preferably at Superintendent level or higher

    SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    Solid knowledge of mining, production and tailings industry
    Knowledge of national legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to tailings environment
    Technical and operational skills
    Contracts management and legislation
    Strong commercial awareness
    Customer oriented
    Strong Project management skills
