SCHOOL OF MEDICINE AND CLINICAL SCIENCES
1. LECTURER – INTERNAL MEDICINE
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality teaching, research, community engagement, and clinical care in the relevant medical specialty. The position supports the training of competent health professionals, advances knowledge through research, and strengthens clinical services in collaboration with teaching hospitals and partner institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical or clinical teaching in the assigned discipline.
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research, dissertations, and clinical training where applicable.
Participate in the development, review, and implementation of curricula in line with regulatory and professional standards.
Conduct scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Participate in departmental, school, and university committees and service activities.
Engage in community outreach and professional service aligned with the discipline.
Undertake and complete a recognised medical education or pedagogy training programme within two years of appointment.
Qualifications And Experience:
Grade 12 Certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science.
Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Medicine or completion of a recognised Specialty Training Programme (STP-ZACOMS) or equivalent qualification.
A PhD or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
Medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognised institution.All academic qualifications must be certified and validated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
Valid professional registration and practising licence with the relevant regulatory body, where applicable.
Demonstrated teaching experience at tertiary or postgraduate level.
Evidence of research activity and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Demonstrated ability to mentor students and work effectively within a multidisciplinary academic and clinical environment.
Key Competencies:
Strong and up-to-date subject matter expertise in the relevant medical specialty.
Ability to teach effectively in both theoretical and practical or clinical settings.
Proven research capability with measurable scholarly output.
Student supervision, mentoring, and academic advising skills.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within an academic and clinical team.
Computer literacy, including use of learning management systems and standard office applications.
