Purpose of the role:
To Assist with the management of Account Receivables, performing account reconciliations, maintaining general ledger, ensure that all receipts have been posted and allocated correctly.
Job Overview:
Fixed Asset Management: Oversee the company’s fixed asset portfolio, ensuring accurate record-keeping, valuation, and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
VAT management: Efficient management of VAT reconciliations, compliance and Other statutory obligations.
Sundry Trade Creditors: Overseeing financial transactions related to accrued expenses.
Reports to: Finance Manager
Branch: Lusaka
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The accountant will be required to perform the following tasks:
Fixed Asset Management:
Asset Recording and Tracking
Ensure the accurate recording and classification of fixed assets in the company’s asset register.
Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive asset register, ensuring all additions, disposals, transfers, and impairments are correctly recorded.
Depreciation and Valuation:
Calculate and record depreciation for fixed assets in line with accounting policies, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or GAAP).
Compliance and Reporting:
Prepare and submit accurate fixed asset reports, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and accounting standards.
VAT Management:
VAT Compliance: Ensure the company is fully compliant with VAT regulations and requirements by preparing and submitting accurate VAT returns on time.
Other Statutory obligations:
Oversee the calculation, deduction, and remittance of PAYE taxes and NAPSA from employees’ wages.
Withholding Tax Administration:
Manage the calculation and deduction of withholding taxes for applicable transactions and payments.
Tax Audits and Compliance:
Prepare for and participate in tax audits conducted by tax authorities.
Sundry Trade Creditors:
Recording Accruals
Record journal entries for accrued revenues and expenses, ensuring accuracy in both the timing and amount.
Reconciliation
Month end closing reconciliation of accrual accounts to ensure that all accrued transactions are properly reflected in the ledger.
Reporting:
Ad-hoc Analysis: Perform detailed COS Analysis (Production overheads and Transport/Freight) for accurate cost & branch recognition.
Internal Controls: Ensure proper internal controls are maintained around Fixed Asset Management and VAT processes to minimize risk of errors or fraud.

Qualifications & Experience
Must have Grade 12 General Certificate of Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce
A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ZICA) is desirable
A member of ZICA.
Minimum four (4) to five (5) years’ experience
Zambia Qualifications Authority Validated Qualifications.
Membership to the relevant body is a requirement.
Job Specific Competencies
Knowledge of international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Zambian laws and regulations.
Experience in Fixed Assets and VAT management.
Strong knowledge of VAT regulations and accounting principles.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial reporting tools.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work within tight deadlines
Duration: Two (2) years Fixed-term contract
