Job Summary:
The MEP Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineer is responsible for supporting the end-to-end planning, design, technical coordination, supervision, and execution of assigned mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection works across the Group.
This role is not limited to site observation. The officer is expected to prepare and review MEP drawings, perform load calculations, develop technical solutions, support services layouts, coordinate with architectural and structural disciplines to prevent clashes, supervise on-site installations, verify materials and workmanship, and ensure that all building services installations reflect approved technical standards, regulatory codes, and Management expectations.

Critical Capabilities:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in MEP engineering, building services design, construction supervision, site installations, or project delivery.
Relevant professional certification, registration, or membership. Examples include COREN, NSE, NATE, NIMechE, IEEE, HSE certification, project management training, MEP site supervision training, commissioning and quality control training.
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Dialux, Carrier HAP, Hevacomp, ETAP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, or similar MEP design, calculation, modeling, and project tracking tools.
Ability to prepare, review, and interpret MEP drawings, schematic diagrams, single-line diagrams, piping layouts, ducting details, and installation schedules.
Strong understanding of building services systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, low voltage systems ICT, CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, plumbing networks, water treatment, drainage, fire hydrant/sprinkler systems, and basic structural/architectural coordination.
Strong understanding of local and international building codes and standards e.g., NFPA, IET Regulations, ASHRAE, National Building Codes.
Experience across different categories of construction, engineering, infrastructure, real estate, or project delivery environments. Preference should be given to candidates who have worked in large, established, reputable, or multinational organizations.
Ability to identify poor installation workmanship, unsafe electrical/piping practices, drawing conflicts, services clashes, material non-compliance, and execution gaps.
Ability to provide practical technical input on routing, space planning, plant room layouts, and construction sequencing where required.
Strong communication, reporting, documentation, coordination, and subcontractor management skills.
High integrity, accountability, attention to detail, and willingness to engage in every phase of the construction process.
Responsibilities
Prepare, develop, review, and update MEP drawings, schematic diagrams, construction details, load calculations, duct layouts, and technical documentation as required.
Provide MEP design input, value engineering options, and practical building services solutions for assigned works.
Support early-stage project planning by reviewing site conditions, utility connection feasibility power, water, drainage, technical feasibility, construction risks, and required engineering inputs.
Coordinate MEP service routes with architectural and structural layouts to eliminate design clashes and ensure optimal buildability and maintenance access.
Work with architects, structural engineers, consultants, contractors, vendors, quantity surveyors, procurement teams, and Management to ensure project plans are technically realistic and properly coordinated.
Supervise assigned mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works from planning through execution, testing, commissioning, and handover.
Ensure that work done on site aligns with approved drawings, specifications, safety codes, manufacturer guidelines, and Management expectations.
Confirm that cable containment, wiring, DBs, switchgears, HVAC ducting, refrigerant piping, drainage pipes, water supply lines, fire protection systems, and sanitary wares are installed correctly.
Inspect and verify MEP materials delivered to the site, including cables, conduits, pipes, valves, pumps, light fixtures, HVAC equipment, and other relevant fittings.
Ensure that critical installations are not covered, concealed, buried, screeded, or closed without testing e.g., pressure testing for plumbing, continuity and insulation resistance testing for electrical circuits, duct leak testing, inspection, photo evidence, and sign-off.
Review subcontractor technical submissions, material submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and technical explanations.
Identify design conflicts, spatial clashes, poor workmanship, safety hazards, material defects, and contractor performance issues. Escalate technical concerns immediately with clear, actionable recommendations rather than vague observations.
Provide technical input and review technical proposals before procurement of MEP equipment, plant machinery, and services where quality, system capacity, or engineering performance is involved.
Prepare site inspection reports, MEP technical reviews, clash-detection logs, defect lists, pressure test records, and project updates for Management. Track unresolved site issues and corrective actions until fully closed out.
Attend project review meetings and provide clear updates on progress, risks, blockers, required approvals, and next steps. Advise Management on whether works should proceed, pause, be corrected, rejected, or re-routed.
Maintain proper technical records, including reviewed shop drawings, approved material submittals, testing & commissioning sheets, inspection photos, and close-out documents.
Support the creation of internal engineering systems, standard operating procedures SOPs, inspection checklists, and templates for the Engineering Department.
Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others on site. Intervene to stop unsafe acts, poor workmanship, or technical practices that may endanger people, assets, or the Group’s reputation.
Expected Outputs

Site inspection reports, MEP defect logs, and technical risk escalation memos.
Signed testing and commissioning records pressure test reports, megger test results, lux level checks, etc..
Approved contractor material submittal evaluations and drawing review comments.
Daily & Weekly MEP progress reports.
Clash detection and civil-coordination layout notes.
Verified as-built drawings and final MEP technical close-out reports.
