Role Overview
The Credit Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s credit management function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts while minimizing credit risk and maintaining positive customer relationships.
The role involves monitoring customer accounts, managing the credit control team, and supporting the organization’s cash flow and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and enforce the company’s credit control policies and procedures.
Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers and recommend appropriate credit limits.
Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
Lead and supervise the credit control team, ensuring collection targets are achieved.
Review aging reports regularly and develop strategies to reduce overdue receivables.
Follow up on overdue accounts through calls, emails, and formal demand notices.
Negotiate payment plans and settlements with customers where appropriate.
Escalate delinquent accounts for legal action or debt recovery when necessary.
Prepare weekly and monthly Accounts Receivable AR and debt collection reports for management.
Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Customer Service teams to resolve billing disputes and improve collection efficiency.
Reconcile customer accounts and ensure accurate recording of receipts.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor bad debt provisions and recommend write-offs where necessary.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of the credit control process.
Support external and internal audits by providing required documentation and reports.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or finance.
Experience in the consumer electronics, FMCG, retail, manufacturing, or distribution industry is an advantage.
