    This position will be reporting to the Artisan Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
    Key Responsibilities
    •       To provide Painting and Signwriting works and ensuring adherence to work specifications, standards and safe working environment.
    •       Ensuring that there is no wastage of material.
    •       Generate acceptable quality of civil maintenance works and infrastructure development.
    •       To diligently execute painting works as assigned by the supervisor to residential and social infrastructures such as (schools, hospitals/clinics, social clubs, office buildings, etc.)
    •       Ensuring all stakeholders in the business that require the services of painting and sign-writing works are effectively and satisfactorily attended to.
    •       Ensuring that work orders are closed / done in accordance with requirements (in terms of quality, usage and specifications) and that, materials are available for the job.
    •       Giving technical and professional advice on work requirements to ensure conformity to accepted standards for work requests.
    •       Providing feedback to the supervisor on material-usage and works completed.
    Minimum Requirements
    •       Full Grade 12 School Certificate
    •       Full grade 12 Certificate.
    •       G5 Trade Test Certificate or better.
    •       Preferably 3 years in Painting and Signwriting
    •       Experience in painting and signwriting works with notable references.
    •       Knowledge of relevant Zambian Engineering standards
    •       Paid up membership of the engineering institute of Zambia

    Making arcing sticks for the Mills section.

    Identifying shortcomings and weaknesses in assistants and offering advice where appropriate.
    Making recommendations for works and materials required to execute them.

    Installing modern locking systems especially at New Refinery and factory MCC’s.
    Replacing worn-out ceilings in the factory offices, finance, HR etc and sealing of roof leakages.
    Doing shuttering works for bricklayers before casting concrete.
    Assembling of office tables, chairs, file-shelves etc
    Repair of office furniture and recommending them for reuse in order to reduce costs.
    Liaise with supervisors, engineers, and other artisans to complete tasks efficiently.
    Keep accurate records of work performed and provide progress reports as required.
    Minimum Requirements
    Full Grade 12 School Certificate
    Craft Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery from a recognized vocational training institute/technical college.
    Preferably 2 – 3 years’ practical experience as a Carpenter in construction or maintenance.
    Membership with Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
    Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).

  • Research Assistants at SAfAIDS Zambia

    SAfAIDS with support from The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with its Partners seeks to recruit 30 Research Assistants who can ethically collect data from school going children and out of school youths on their learning of Life Skills and Health Education (LSHE) and Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for a period of two weeks in Western and Northern Provinces.
     
    The Research Assistants will be trained to collect the data. In consultation with the Supervisor and research team, the Research Assistants will collect data from school-going children and non-school-going young people as well as their teachers and learning facilitators. Interviews will be done at schools and from households and facilities in catchment areas of health facilities after administering informed consent. The Research Assistants will also securely store collected data, ensure that good data quality is achieved and complete data collection in a timely manner.
    Required Qualifications/Experience
    Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least a Merit in Mathematics and English
    Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in education, psychology, social sciences and public health
    Certified training in Protection of Human Research Participants will be an added advantage
    Experience in working with adolescents and young people on sexual and reproductive health services is an added advantage
    Must read and speak English and either Lozi or Bemba.
    Must be a resident of a district in Western and Northern Province
    Must have experience collecting data on tablets ideally on Kobo Toolbox (proven by a certificate of completion of a research study)

    Position Overview
    We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician with expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems. This is a hands-on technical role focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery to ensure maximum uptime, efficiency, and compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (HSES) standards.
    Unlike supervisory or engineering roles, this position is primarily execution-focused: the technician will carry out maintenance tasks, ensuring machines run smoothly and safely.
    Key Responsibilities
    1. Mechanical Maintenance

    Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on production machinery (woodchippers, hammermills, pelletizers, conveyors, blowers, etc.).
     Troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults quickly to minimize downtime.
     Maintain accurate service and repair logs for all equipment.
    Assist in machine setup and alignment to ensure efficient operation.

    2. Electrical Maintenance

    Install, inspect, and repair wiring, controls, sensors, and motors.
    Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, including motor control systems and circuits.
     Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company HSES protocols.
    Collaborate with engineers and supervisors during system upgrades or modifications.

    3. Preventive Maintenance & Safety

    Follow and improve preventive maintenance schedules to extend equipment lifespan.
    Apply the Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) system when performing maintenance to ensure safe shutdown.
    Conduct regular inspections to identify potential failures and act before breakdowns occur.
    Work closely with the Production Supervisor to coordinate servicing schedules.

    4. Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability (HSES)

    Adhere strictly to HSES standards, including PPE usage, safe handling of tools, and correct procedures.
    Report any incidents, near misses, or unsafe practices immediately.
    Support waste management and environmental practices in line with company goals.

    Qualifications & Experience

    Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance (or equivalent technical qualification).
    Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in hands-on maintenance in a factory/industrial setting.
    Strong working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems, including motors, wiring, and hydraulics.
    Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
    Practical knowledge of Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and other safety systems.
    Hands-on, problem-solving approach with strong attention to detail.

    2. Preventive Maintenance Compliance

    Achieve ≥90% completion rate of scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on time.
     100% of preventive maintenance work recorded in the maintenance log.

    3. Repair Responsiveness & Efficiency

    Average response time to breakdowns: under 30 minutes.
    First-time fix rate: ≥90%.
    Complete repair reports within 24 hours of intervention.

    4. Safety & HSES Compliance

    Zero safety incidents arising from maintenance work.
    100% adherence to Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures and PPE use.

    5. Work Quality & Record Keeping

    Maintain accurate and complete records for 100% of maintenance tasks.
    Provide clear fault reports and recommendations to the Production Supervisor.

    6. Collaboration with Production

    Coordinate repairs with the Production Supervisor to minimize disruption.
    Report recurring issues and propose improvement actions to reduce repeat faults.
