Duties and Responsibilities
Establishing and managing the tax department, including overseeing its operations and participation in the hiring process.
Efficiently and effectively executing all tax projects, ensuring timely completion and compliance.
Reviewing or preparing tax returns for various clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Assisting in the preparation of tax advice within the realm of Botswana tax law, providing valuable insights to clients.
Identifying training needs, selecting appropriate training resources, and ensuring that employees and clients receive the necessary knowledge and skills.
Collaborating with the team and accountants during audits.
Review of Tax legislation, Fiscal policy, Ministry of Finance Budget, Statutory Instruments, and BURS Public Notices.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, providing exceptional service and addressing their needs.
Establishing and maintaining a professional relationship with BURS officials and acting as a liaison officer between clients and BURS.
Managing business development activities, including preparing proposals and collaborating with other professionals to expand the client base.
Education and Professional Qualifications
Chartered Accountant/ACCA/CIA/ADIT
Master of Commerce Degree or any other relevant master’s degree.
Fiscal Studies/Accounting/Auditing/Business Degree
A member of the Institute of any recognized professional body such as BICA/IIA/I
Experience
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CA (Chartered Accountant) certification is required.
At least 5 years of experience
Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, coach, motivate, and effectively manage financial audit staff.
Ability to work collaboratively with various departments, with a solid understanding of how financial auditing aligns with operational functions within a professional services environment.
