Key Responsibilities
To contribute to the development of the University’s strategy, policies, processes and procedures
Develop and lead the execution of a comprehensive faculty strategic plan, policies and procedures in line with the University’s overall goals.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of Faculty operations against established goals and objectives, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending corrective action as needed.
Drive strategic initiatives to enhance academic excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Promote a culture of service excellence, manage resources effectively and drive change where necessary in order to build the reputation of the Faculty.
Ensure the development and delivery of high-quality academic programmes that meet accreditation standards and respond to the needs of students
Foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
Lead the faculty’s research agenda, encouraging a culture of research excellence and impactful contributions to knowledge
Advance research initiatives and foster innovation.
Strengthen university outreach and service initiatives in support of becoming an engaged university.
Prioritize student success by fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Development and lead the implementation on initiatives to enhance student engagement, retention, and overall academic experience.
Cultivate and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders, including industry partners, government agencies, and community organizations.
Represent the faculty in key academic and professional forums.
Advocate for the faculty’s interests and contributions at the university and broader community levels.
Provide excellent customer services ensuring client and stakeholder satisfaction.
Resolve customer enquiries and issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Identify and address areas of improvement for customer and stakeholder experience
Develop and manage the faculty risk register with clear mitigation strategies.
Coordinate and support internal and external faculty audits as per the university policy.
Address audit findings and recommendations to improve processes and controls
Ensure faculty compliance to legislative and statutory requirements
Collaborate with the legal and compliance departments to address legal and regulatory issues
Provide leadership in recruiting, mentoring, and retaining a diverse and accomplished faculty
Coordinate and support internal and external faculty audits as per the university policy
Address audit findings and recommendations to improve processes and controls
Ensure faculty compliance to legislative and statutory requirements
Collaborate with the legal and compliance departments to address legal and regulatory issues.
Provide leadership in recruiting, mentoring, and retaining a diverse and accomplished faculty.
Support professional development initiatives to enhance teaching, research, and leadership capabilities.
Engage and discipline staff I accordance with defined human resources management policies and procedures and prevailing labor laws
Develop and manage the faculty budget
Recommend expenditure in accordance with delegated limits
Identify opportunities to generate additional revenue and /or funding for the faculty.
Prudently manage faculty costs highlighting clear return on investments for the university
Undertake any other duties as directed by the supervisor
Requirements
A minimum of PhD/Doctorate in relevant discipline. A relevant Master’s degree or fellowship in the area of discipline is mandatory.
A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in teaching, research, governance and social engagement experience in a higher institution re required.
Must have served a minimum of three (3) years as Head of School/Deputy Dean or their equivalent.
Member of recognized professional body
Substantial academic leadership experience, preferably in a university setting
Strong record of scholarly achievements and research
Demonstrated success in strategic planning and implementation
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Financial acumen and budget management experience
