Main Purpose of the Job
Responsible for senior-level decision making, day-to-day management and strategic direction in the areas of communication, marketing, fundraising as well as public relations, and stakeholder engagement, with a view to promote the image and visibility of the University, develop the BOU brand and support the strategic objectives of BOU.
Key Performance Areas
Oversee the formulation, review, and implementation of communication policies, strategies, plans, rules, regulations, systems, processes, procedures, standards and guidelines, in order to ensure achievement of BOU goals and objectives.
Provide leadership in the appropriate marketing and public relations activities that support achievement of BOU goals at all levels of the University.
Advise and assist executive and senior management on corporate and stakeholder engagement matters.
Serve as the primary information about BOU in local and international media.
Provide input in areas pertaining to the department’s functions towards a broader university agenda.
Oversee and monitor the realisation of own department’s Key Results Areas and staff performance, and make decisions on matters to improve unit and departmental performance.
Qualifications, Experience
At least a Masters in Corporate Communications/Marketing/Mass Communication/Public Relations or related field from a recognized institution.
Membership of a recognized institute of public relations, marketing, design, or communication strategy, as appropriate.
At least 10 years of relevant application work experience, with at least 5 years at senior management position.
Proven experience in the use of IT software/applications relevant to the position.
Experience in a higher education or management position will be an added advantage.

Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently, strategically, and across teams.
