    Minimum Requirements    

    Minimum grade 12
    Have a valid code 14 driver’s license and valid PDP.
    Minimum of 3 years previous driving experience with a horse and trailer 
    Having knowledge of specialised steel is recommended.
    The incumbent must be self-driven and be able to work under pressure.
    Must be fluent in English (read, speak, and write) and be able to communicate effectively with any given group.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    Loading, transporting, and delivering items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner. Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
    Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles.
    Providing excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from clients. Maintain a positive attitude with customers.
    Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules.
    Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
    Ensuring trips sheets, delivery notes and any other documentation is signed and returned by customer Operating equipment and machinery, (Trucks, overhead cranes and forklifts)
    Refuel and clean vehicle.
    Report road incidents to the Logistics supervisor
    Inspect trucks and complete a daily checklist. Record and report issues to Logistics supervisor
    Follow accident procedures.
    Report mechanical problems to logistics supervisor
    Escalating and communicating all delays to logistics supervisor
    Ensuring that vehicles and company assets are treated and managed carefully and to prevent damage.
    Practicing and maintaining effective good driving behaviour to prevent damage or excessive cost to company and its assets.
    Ensure that trucks and axels are not overloaded. Participate in debrief meetings with logistics department
    Conduct Daily Safety Task Inspections.

    Job Summary:

    Key Performance Areas:

    Checks moxes and tasks for delivery and collections that need to be done in order to plan a collections and delivery route.
    Conducts delivery and collection of specimens from outlying laboratories, supporting doctors and clients to ensure that specimens, reports and other goods arrive at correct destinations timeously and in good condition to increase customer service levels.
    Completes and signs proof of delivery for specimens or reports collected or delivered to endure records are kept for tracking purposes if and when applicable.
    Scans specimens and results on the Courier Management Programme to ensure that all deliveries and collections can be tracked and traced.
    Maintain daily safe keeping and fault reporting on Lancet’s assets (such as vehicles, petrol cards, uniforms etc) and equipment to ensure that they remain in good condition to provide excellent collection and delivery of goods and shuttle services.
    Utilises protective wear (such as specimen bags, gloves, eye specs etc) to ensure own safety and adherence to the Health and safety regulations policy.
    Completes incident and accident reports and submits to Management to ensure that insurance claims are processed timeously and all damages are repaired.
    Maintains cleanliness of Lancet vehicles also reporting any spills of hazardous materials to management and ensure safe working conditions as per Quality Assurance Standards.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    Process Management

    Provide health and safety advice to line management and their personnel.
    Assist line management in ensuring compliance to the SHEQ system w.r.t. Occupational Hygiene and Industrial Safety
    Report Industrial Safety and Occupational Hygiene matters to management, senior Safety Officer and other relevant stakeholders.
    Assist the line management in the implementation of an Industrial Safety programme and compliance to the SHEQ system

    Process Management and Implementation (Specialization)

    Assist in the evaluation and selection of suitable contractor(s) based on their competencies, knowledge and resources to carry-out project work or construction work safely
    Assist in the preparation of contract documentation related to construction health and safety requirements (e.g. Section 37(1) Agreements).
    Evaluate contractor(s) health and safety plans to ensure compliance to Necsa standard health and safety specification.
    Invigilate activities of the contractor and ensure that means of controls exist between the client and contractors to stop any work that endangers or has the potential to endanger contactor(s) workers.
    Assist in the review all construction SHEQ-INS documents as subject matter specialist as and when the review dates are due.

    Audits (Internal and External)

    Prepare for and attend inspections/audits (SHEQ, SABS, NNR etc)
    Close inspection/audit findings w.r.t conventional safety
    Assist line management with statutory and regulatory surveys, inspections and audits.
    Conduct internal audits on the implementation of the industrial safety programme. Carry-out SHEQ inspection and audits on a contraction site(s) to ensure compliance with Necsa SHEQ requirements.

    Requirements

    Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent. Professional registration (e.g. Construction Health and Safety Officer) will be an added advantage.
    At least 3 years in the implementation of SHEQ systems.

    The following would be advantageous:

    Formal safety management courses such as SAMTRAC and/or Occupational Hygiene certificate.
    Knowledge of quality management software.
