GARDENER
JOB PURPOSE
To maintain the landscape, gardens, and outdoor areas of ZAMCOM by ensuring a clean, aesthetically pleasing, and functional environment, it involves planting, pruning, watering, weeding, and general upkeep of green spaces
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Regularly mow lawns, trim hedges, and water plants to maintain healthy greenery.
· Prunes trees and shrubs to encourage proper growth and appearance.
· Prepares soil and plant flowers, grass, trees, and other vegetation as needed.
· Maintains garden beds by removing weeds, mulching, and applying fertilizers.
· Ensures outdoor areas remain clean by collecting and disposing of garden waste properly.
· Keeps pathways, driveways, and outdoor spaces free from debris.
· Maintains gardening tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
· Reports any damaged or malfunctioning tools to the line manager.
· Identifies and treats plants affected by pests or diseases using safe and appropriate methods.
· Implements preventive measures to keep gardens free from infestations.
· Follows safety procedures when handling gardening chemicals and equipment.
· Ensures compliance with environmental and health regulations in gardening activities.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
· Grade 12 Certificate
· Certificate in Landscaping is an added advantage
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
· Knowledge of plant care techniques, irrigation systems, and pest control.
· Must hold experience using gardening tools and machinery such as lawnmowers and trimmers
· Must have the ability to perform manual labour, including lifting, bending, and extended periods of outdoor work
· Must have the ability to Identify and address garden-related challenges, such as pest infestations or plant diseases
· Must have an understanding of soil management, and landscaping principles.

District Project Officer at Zambia Land Alliance
Zambia Land Alliance (ZLA) is a network of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) advocating for pro-poor land policies, laws and systems in Zambia. ZLA, in partnership with Paralegal Alliance Network (PAN) and Transparency International Zambia (TI-Z), will be implementing a three-year project funded by the European Union (EU). The project, titled ‘Strengthening the Role of CSOs and Citizens in Promoting Good Land Governance,’ will be implemented in the Central Province (Mkushi and Serenje districts), Luapula Province (Mansa and Kawambwa districts), and North-Western Province (Kalumbila and Mufumbwe districts). ZLA is therefore soliciting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to take up six (6) positions of District Project Officer (DPO), reporting to theProvincial Project Coordinator (PPC).The DPOwill be based in one of the six target districts.
1. ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the development and management of detailed project plans, including deliverables, budgets and work plans at the district level.
Establish and maintain relationships with key district stakeholders, including government officials, CSOs, and traditional leaders.
Track project progress and serve as the main point of contact for project updates at the district level, ensuring delivery to agreed quality, cost, and time standards.
Support district-level learning and adaptive project management through evidence and feedback.
Participate in policy advocacy and lobbying efforts at the district level.
Submit district narrative reports to the PPC.
Mobilise, coordinate and support community members, Community Land Advocacy committees (CLACs) and CSOs in the implementation of project activities.
Represent the organisation in district meetings, forums, and public events to champion the project advocacy efforts.
Ensure integrity, transparency and compliance with ZLA and EU guidelines at the district level.
Document success stories and submit district progress narrative reports to the PPC.
Represent the project at district stakeholder engagements.
Submit regular updates for the project log frame to the PPC.2. Skills, Qualifications and Experience
A suitable candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications and experience:Degree in Environmental Science, or relevant Social Science from a recognised institution with at least two years’ relevant NGO experience.
Experience in capacity development of community members and NGOs.
Willingness to travel to target communities on a motorbike.
Flexible and able to work independently to meet deadlines.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Valid Motorbike rider’s license with at least 2 years’ experience.
