    Opportunity

    What You’ll Do
    Strategic Leadership & Planning

    Lead the development and implementation of the company’s engineering and construction strategy in Zambia and the region.
    Oversee feasibility studies, investment planning, and technical due diligence for capital projects.
    Align engineering and construction operations with national development goals, environmental regulations, and company objectives.
    Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on the project

    Project Development & Execution

    Direct all phases of project lifecycle: concept design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
    Supervise large-scale projects including real estate, commercial, civil, energy, and industrial infrastructure.
    Provide technical guidance and support to the project team, resolving complex engineering challenges and ensuring the effective application of engineering principles.
    Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the construction process, seeking opportunities to optimize efficiency and enhance project outcomes.
    Champion the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) within projects, ensuring its effective integration into the construction process.
    Ensure all projects adhere to NCC (National Council for Construction) and ERB (Engineering Registration Board) guidelines and standards.
    Manage construction contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with their terms and conditions.

    Regulatory & Environmental Compliance

    Engage proactively with local and national authorities such as ZEMA, WARMA, ZESCO, and local councils to secure necessary permits and approvals.
    Ensure compliance with Zambian construction laws, occupational health and safety regulations, and environmental protection standards.
    Financial Oversight & Cost Management
    Lead budgeting, cost estimation, value engineering, and financial performance monitoring for all capital works.
    Evaluate contractor bids, negotiate contracts, and ensure transparent procurement in line with ZPPA (Zambia Public Procurement Authority) standards where applicable.

    Team Leadership & Capacity Building

    Ensure that staff members have the necessary skills and training to perform their roles effectively, providing opportunities for professional development.
    Lead, mentor, and build the capacity of multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers, project managers, and technicians.
    Foster local talent development through mentorship, skills transfer, and partnerships with Zambian institutions.
    Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    Represent the company in meetings with clients, partners, government officials, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders.
    Drive collaboration with local contractors, suppliers, consultants, and regulators to ensure smooth project execution.
    Prepare and assist the Chief Executive Officer to present reports to the Board, investors, and other stakeholders.

    Quality Control and Safety

    Implement and enforce quality control measures and safety protocols to ensure that construction work meets the required standards and adheres to all relevant regulations.

    Who You Are

    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage).
    Experience: Minimum of 7 years’ experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role managing complex infrastructure or construction projects in Zambia or the region.
    Managerial disposition: High-integrity and results-driven strategic thinker with strong financial and contractual acumen.
    Knowledgeable: In-depth knowledge of construction codes, regulations, and safety standards, strong grasp of local regulatory frameworks (NCC, ERB, ZEMA, ZPPA, etc.), and deep understanding of the Zambian construction and engineering environment
    Self Starter: Proactive and self-driven.
    Tech Savvy: Proficient with design/modelling and project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, etc.) and familiarity with BIM and other relevant technologies; eager to learn new tools.
    Team Player & Excellent Communicator: Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, writing, and presentation skills.
