    About the role:

The new role will be based in Cape Town and will report into the Director of Tax Compliance, who is also based in Cape Town. The role will ultimately report into Apex’s Global Head of Tax based in London.
    The ideal candidate will need to have a good understanding of corporation tax compliance issues and experience of managing tax filings on an international basis.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Working with external tax advisors to manage the groups international tax compliance obligations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to evolving tax legislation
    Ensure accurate and timely tax reporting under IFRS/UK GAAP and provide input into group consolidated reporting
    Responsibility for managing the group’s tax cash flow position and ensuring all tax payments are correctly reflected in plan/budget
    Preparing and reviewing of VAT computations across the group (in select jurisdictions)
    Involvement in preparing local transfer pricing files
    Working with the director of compliance and reporting to ensure adherence to the group’s tax risk management framework

    Candidate Requirements:

    Key Accountabilities:

    Prepare comprehensive design packs and Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring all components are correctly specified and aligned with material and cost requirements.
    Evaluate and recommend suitable materials, fittings, and joinery methods for new and existing designs, balancing practicality, quality, and production feasibility.

    Prototype Support & Production Alignment

    Brief approved designs to in-house WFCF and WFCU teams for prototyping.
    Drive and oversee the prototyping process, ensuring alignment with design intent, production feasibility, and quality standards.
    Work hands-on with production and machine operators to troubleshoot and refine prototypes, ensuring designs are translated effectively into physical products.

    Drawing & Technical Data Management

    Develop and maintain a digital library of technical drawings across all furniture ranges, ensuring version control and accessibility for production teams.
    Maintain updates to drawings and BOMs following design revisions or material changes.

    Collaboration & Process Contribution

    Collaborate with designers, technical managers, and production teams to ensure smooth workflow, feasibility, and timely project completion.
    Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing practical insights from prototyping and production feedback.

     Technical Skills:

    5–10 years of relevant experience in technical furniture design, preferably across solid timber and wood-based materials.
    A formal qualification in Drafting, Industrial Design, or a related field (3-year diploma or higher).
    Excellent technical drawing skills and proficiency in Solid Works and Fusion (or similar CAD software).
    Practical understanding of woodworking techniques, joinery methods, and manufacturing processes.
    Experience working with CNC machines or programming is advantageous.
