  • Maintenance Technician ICX Customer Experience Consultant

    Key Responsibilities:

    Perform daily checks and regular inspections of critical equipment, including refrigeration units, electrical systems, mobile racking, other racking systems, and general facility infrastructure to identify potential issues and ensure systems are functioning at optimal levels.
    Perform routine inspections and maintenance on refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and cooling tunnels.
    Conduct temperature probe calibrations to ensure accuracy and compliance with operational standards.
    Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical faults on facility equipment, including conveyor systems, forklifts, and cooling systems.
    Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, and general facility infrastructure.
    Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, including HACCP, ISO9001, and food safety requirements.
    Maintain accurate maintenance records and report any major faults to the Maintenance Manager.
    Assist in emergency breakdown repairs to minimize downtime in operations.

    Support the Maintenance Manager in planning and executing major equipment overhauls and facility upgrades.
    Monitor and manage stock levels of maintenance supplies and spare parts.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    Education:

    Diploma or trade certifications CO2 refrigeration systems.
    SAQCC gas handling license (Cat. A) – CO2

    Experience:

    Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a refrigeration technician role, ideally in a cold storage, food production, or warehouse environment.
    Proven experience in large-scale mechanical and electrical systems, including refrigeration and HVAC.
    In-depth knowledge of facility maintenance, repair, and diagnostic techniques.

    Technical Skills:

    Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems and components.
    Experience with electrical systems, including troubleshooting and wiring.
    Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), PLCs, and mechanical equipment.
    Welding and fabrication experience is an advantage.

    Beneficial Qualifications:

    Refrigeration Technician Certification relating to CO2 plants

    Key Responsibilities    

    Technical accounting

    Highly numerate with a professional understanding of technical accounting standards, financial statements and reporting, and financial controls
    Experience in credit retail would be an advantage

    The Master shall:

    Ensure that Flag State and/or the Classification Society are informed, when and where required, of any incidents or accidents.

    Prepare his standing and daily orders according to guidelines for navigators.
    Provide information and records of the relevant contents of the following to the shipboard management team: Company’s SMS, Flag State legislation, codes and guidance, Port state legislation and guidance, Classification societies’ rules and regulations, Industry guidance.
    Ensure that conditions and activities comply with good seamanship and, if so required, ensure that corrective action is taken.
    Ensure that Port/Flag State and/or the Classification Society are informed, when and where required, of failure of any Statutory Equipment which affects the Safety and Pollution Prevention requirement.

    FUNCTION

    The Master’s responsibilities are:

    Implementation of the health, safety and environmental protection policies aboard the vessel and motivation of all crewmembers to observe their intended and implied requirements.
    Issuing orders and instructions to the personnel in a clear and simple manner.
    Verifying that the requirements of the Safety Management System are observed.
    Reviewing the SMS on a continuously ongoing basis in the light of practical experience gained, and to carrying out it’s on-board training, drills and post drill reviews.
    Executing the responsibilities for the vessel’s Dry-Docking, as outlined in Supp Doc 017,
    Reporting deficiencies to the Appropriate Department ashore
    To ensure that the vessel is seaworthy and ready for the sea before it leaves the port including planning of voyages and navigation.
    To ensure that charts, navigation manuals, etc. required are available on board the vessel and that they are up to date.
    To ensure that the number of bunkers, water and food are sufficient for the intended voyage.
    To ensure that vessel certificates are kept up to date and kept in a safe place accessible for inspection by various authorities.
    To check that all personnel have the qualifications required by STCW, Flag Legislation, Customers and/or the Company, and that the prescribed minimum manning level for the vessel are complied with.
    Ensure all embarked personnel receive appropriate medical care as may be required. 
    To ensure that any loading and unloading of the cargo and/or stores as well as its treatment during the voyage is performed in accordance with applicable rules, instructions, and contracts.
    Ensure all required physical security and operational security procedures are enforced in accordance with international, flag state, company, or customer requirements.
    Recognize a non-compliance with a specific requirement and analyse the reason for the non-compliance. Ensure personnel are aware of the reason for the noncompliance and how same is dealt with initially and permanently eliminated for the future.
    Supervise all GMDSS communications ensuring that they conform to international standards. 
    Work / rest hour planning and records for all officers and ratings to ensure that the rest hour requirements are being complied with.
    The Master is ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the vessel and for preventing pollution from the vessel.

    Holds a valid SAMSA Certificate of Competency (CoC) as Master < 500GT (Near Coastal) STCW Req. II/3

    Holds a valid SAMSA Medical Certificate (without restrictions or limitations).

    Join the Dis-Chem Pharmacies Cosmetics Retail Learnership, launching in branches across South Africa.
    This exciting programme is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively promote and sell Dis-Chem’s Cosmetics & Beauty products — all through excellent, consistent customer service.

    Minimum Requirements…

    Essential

    Matric /Grade 12
    Willing and able to work retail hours
    Computer literate in Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

    Advantage:

    Previous working experience within the beauty environment

    Key Responsibilities…

    Stock Control:

    Ensure the stock on the shelves has not reached sell by dates.
    Ensure full range of products are on the shelves at all times.
    Participate in department stock takes, when requested.
    Keep the storeroom organised, neat and tidy.
    Report low stock levels, items that are out of stock, damaged stock and expired stock to management.
    Facilitate the rotation of stock on a regular basis and adhere to Dis-Chem stock control procedures.
    Identify and report damaged and expired immediately to one of the store management team members.
    Ensure boxes are flattened after unpacking stock and taken to designated area.
    Restock merchandise when needed to ensure maximum sales.

    Merchandising:

    Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, merchandising and displays must be maintained in both the window area and throughout the store.
    Present displays in an attractive manner.
    Demonstrate products through, makeovers, cosmetic demonstrations, spray promotions or activities.
    Correctly price and label all relevant goods.
    Work towards achieving sales targets for different vendors and brands within the Cosmetics Department.
    Adhere to stock layout principles.
    Merchandising displays in the cosmetics area must be faces up and stocked up.
    Assist with the loading and off-loading of stock, when needed.
    Report all price discrepancies to management.

    Customer Service:

    To provide friendly, helpful and courteous assistance and advice to all customers.
    Process payments at a Cosmetics Department Point of Sales (POS).
    Give advice to customers but do not force customers to change their preferable brand.
    All customer stock queries must be dealt with and resolved.
