    ROLE PURPOSE

    To implement the LTP power generators service & strategy within various Client sites & ensure SLA delivery

    MAIN OUTPUTS
    UTILIZATION OF GENERATORS:

    Analyze the daily running report & ensure that all Co. owned generators are efficiently utilized
    Supervise generator field teams & ensure maximum optimization, high levels of productivity & cost effectiveness
    Ensure that all job cards are captured on the system after completion of tasks
    Attend to & follow-up on discrepancies on the daily running report & Asset Register (generator schedule)
    Provide a weekly/monthly progress report to National Operations Manager & provide prompt remedial plan on open job cards

    DEPLOYMENT, OFF-HIRE & SWOPS (EXCHANGES):

    Verify the availability of generators & resources, as per the schedule received from the Workshop
    Prioritize open calls for generator deployment/Off-hire/Swops & follow-up with the NNOC in ensuring compliance with SLA
    Ensure availability of vehicles, tools & test equipment for the shift teams
    Attend to & manage escalations from the NNOC pertaining to late deployment/Off-hire/Swops of generators
    Monitor progress on completion of open calls on daily basis
    Conduct audits on all equipment & tools & ensure appropriate working condition of such thereof
    Attend weekly meetings with the Client on work progress & Corrective Action Report (CAR)

    POWER ALARMS:

    Conduct root-cause-analysis on triggered power alarms
    Maintain record & report monthly on incidents relating to power alarms & provide remedial action taken to National Operations Manager

    HSE:

    Ensure compliance to Occupational Health & Safety Act
    Conduct monthly HSE meetings & weekly tool-box talk with staff, keep attendance registers
    Ensure that health & safety files are in place for all teams & sub-contractors at all times

    MANAGING BUDGETS:

    Minimise S&T expenses relating to “sleep-outs”, through optimization of routes
    Ensure that overtime is kept at minimum levels, all overtime work to be pre-approved

    MANAGING STAFF:

    Manage performance, discipline & conflicts within the Generators team & effect corrective action in line with company policies/procedure
    Ensure that performance contracts (PDMS) are in place & conduct timeous performance appraisals
    Responsible for training, coaching, mentoring & development of the Generators team & ensure PDPs for all staff are in place
    Ensure adequate staff placement i.e. prepare suitable shift-roster & manage/approve applicable leave for staff
    Manage absenteeism & effect timeous remedial action

    QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

    The Applicant must meet the following requirements:

    Minimum N6 in Mechanical Engineering, with a Diesel Mechanic Trade-Test

    Grade 12
    08 Driver’s License
    5 years relevant experience within generators deployment environment, with 2 years in a leadership role
    Appropriate competence for the role.
    Ability to deliver precise and concise reports.
    Good knowledge of monitoring and operating equipment in a production environment.
    Have broad technical knowledge in a generator’s deployment field within base station environment
    Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel & MS Outlook (Intermediate skill level)
    Solid knowledge of OHS Act, ISO 9001 Quality Management & Environmental Protection Act
    Must possess a natural creative ability to explore new technology and use it in an innovative manner to the company’s advantage

    Key Outputs and Responsibilities:

    OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

    Provide specialist support for coaching, mentoring and knowledge transfer of machine operation to shift based teams

    Where requested, assist as a functional expert in problem solving for the plant and support to zone

    PLANNED MAINTENANCE

    Take part in maintenance planning meeting, contributing suggestions and clarifying work required
    Ensure backlog meets minimum hours and schedules are reviewed as per required frequency
    Carry out work during the planned maintenance window in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule issued by the planner
    Assist fellow team members in the execution of their tasks in during planned maintenance windows
    Partake in maintenance postmortems to feedback problems, opportunities and learnings from maintenance activities

    ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

    Partake in ATO cleaning, lubrication and inspection in accordance with the maintenance schedule issued by the Maintenance Planner must be resolved using the appropriate problem-solving techniques
    Carry out routine maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule where problems have been uncovered during routine maintenance, these required, additional resources may be called in to assist
    Where problems have been uncovered, and it is required to include the work in the planned maintenance schedule, this must be communicated to the Maintenance Controller & Maintenance Planner
    Carry out condition monitoring activities where these have been allocated to the Technician in accordance with the ZCM schedule

    PROBLEM SOLVING

    Where problems have occurred during routine activities, apply the correct problem-solving approach to resolve
    Assist fellow team members to resolve problems on request take part, as functional expert, in AB- Report, SDCA and PDCA on request

    HOUSEKEEPING AND SAFETY

    Operate in a safe manner at all times, and identify and highlight unsafe work practices so that these may be corrected
    Carry out work according to the work instructions and adhere to appropriate AB-InBev policies and procedures

    RUNNING REPAIRS

    This may include internal resources such as Instrument
    Technicians or Inspection and coding specialist or external resources such as Contractors or Suppliers
    Where repairs indicate that major work is required, such as re-wiring a motor, this must be transferred to the engineering workshop for attention
    Verify that where running repairs have been carried out, this has addressed the problem
    Complete the administration tasks relating to any running repairs that the Technician has carried out
    This includes all SAP inputs where running repairs cannot be carried out, communicate this to the Maintenance Planner to ensure the work is planned into the next planned window

    Objective of the role

    The Principal– Mobile Assets is responsible for providing oversight and support of the Owner and Mining Contractor heavy mobile equipment (HME) Workshop, Pit Maintenance and Light Vehicles ensuring the strategic maintenance and efficient operation of HME & LVs.
    The role and accountabilities are to ensure that the discipline functions as the centre of excellence and the custodian of all matters relating mobile equipment within the asset management discipline.
    The role ensures that all equipment is maintained according to the equipment management strategy, optimising for full cost of ownership, and maintaining equipment reliability and efficiency. 

    Education & Qualifications

    Engineering or Maintenance related qualification.

    Technical Knowledge, Skills & Experience 

    10+ years, preferably with Asset / HME management experience.
    A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in a core engineering    discipline – i.e. Mechanical or Electrical or post-graduate in Asset Management would be beneficial.
    Strong track record of success at specialist level in the mining industry working within the surface and underground mobile assets (HME) field. Deep level understanding of planning and maintenance of mobile equipment to ensure Integrity over the life of mine. At least 5 years relevant operational experience on a mine site related to mobile mining equipment. Relevant Mine/Site based experience is crucial.

    Context setting/long term planning:

    Review and escalate as required strategic maintenance plans for all HME, aligning with organisational goals and long-term asset management strategies.  Provides a regional view of the long-term plan
    Reviews the Life of Mine/Life asset plans that balances machine residual life and performance and ensures it aligns with business need
    Reviews Equipment management strategies to understand alignment with OEM/Best Practice
    Work directly with CTO as the BU Subject Matter expert.

    Mining Contract Management:

    Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and collaboration across departments and with suppliers
    Providing governance across the contractor’s compliance with the Safety & Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures, and regulations.
    Provide oversight of statutory positions within the owner & contract maintenance teams
    Coach and advise contract owners and key stakeholders regarding the contractual levers for effective contract management detailed within the scope of the Alliance contracts related to Maintenance.
    Benchmark key contract inputs for maintenance and monitor actual performance against appropriate benchmarks.
    Identify opportunities for performance and cost improvements and advise contractors/owners accordingly.
    Acts as custodian of the AMT process associated with Asset Management of HME and LVs and is a key member of AMTs, providing input into ALT processes.
    Act as the key contract liaison between AGA and Mining Contractors for maintenance related tasks
    Escalation of issues as required to the AMT/ALT.
