    Role Purpose:

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
    2 years’ experience in FBP or financial reporting
    SAICA articles would be an advantage
    Technology and Telco experience would be an advantage
    Technical/professional qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Actuarial science, or applied mathematics – essential
    Postgraduate qualification or finance professional qualification be an advantage e.g. CIMA, CA (SA), MBA – advantageous

    PURPOSE

    The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D and 3D drawings, assisting with BOQ development, and ensuring accurate drawing documentation in line with project standards.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Design Development and Detailing

    Develop piping and mechanical layout drawings from concept through to construction.
    Design and detail custom support structures, skids, and baseplates for mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, manifolds) in line with installation and load requirements.

    3D Modelling, BOQ and Drawing Control

    Generate 3D models for visualisation and clash detection.
    Extract accurate BOQs and material take-offs from models and drawings.
    Maintain proper versioning, archiving, and retrieval of drawings using approved document control systems.

    Quality, Standards, and Reviews

    Review subcontractor and vendor drawings for accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
    Conduct internal QA checks and apply redline revisions.
    Maintain and enforce Fraser Alexander drafting standards, title blocks, and templates.

    Support, Oversight, and Site Interface

    Provide oversight and technical guidance to junior draughtsmen as allocated.
    Review outputs to ensure compliance with standards when supporting junior team members.
    Support site teams by providing drawing clarifications and drawing packages.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    National Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Draughting.
    Certification in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Civil 3D, or equivalent.

    EXPERIENCE

    5–8 years of experience in mechanical drafting, ideally within mining, piping, or tailings infrastructure projects.
    Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    Experience in BOQ extraction, subcontractor drawing reviews, redlining, and document management systems.
    Experience in site verification and the integration of mechanical components into multidisciplinary construction environments.
