    Description

    Ecowize is looking for an experienced and certified Pest Control & Hygiene Technician to join our Pest Control and Hygiene division in Limpopo.
    The purpose of this role is to determine the best treatment regarding pest control and ensure the highest quality of service is delivered to the customer. 
    The Pest Control Technician must ensure that all services are planned and completed in line with the customer agreements signed. Be accountable and responsible for equipment and consumables used to complete the services. 

    Summary of responsibilities

    You will be responsible for inspecting buildings and the surrounding property for signs of insects, rodents and other pests.
    Then determine which treatment is best and use the proper baits or traps to remove them.
    Spray chemical solutions, powders, and gases on or near surfaces of a building or house to eliminate pests.
    Identify invading pests, including rats, termites, snakes, wasps, ants, spiders, mosquitos, or bed bugs.
    Set mechanical traps and place bait. Remove dead rodents after extermination.

    Requirements

    Grade 12
    Valid Driver’s licence
    P-Registration with Department of Agriculture.
    Pest Control Operator experience essential.
    Able to work flexible hours and overtime.
    Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel.

    POSITION PURPOSE

    Responsible for the maintenance of the building. Completes preventive maintenance, installs new equipment, and assists with routine building maintenance. Completes work order records and files all related maintenance paperwork.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIE

    Checks all fittings in toilets (taps, basis, urinals etc).
    Checks all equipment such as air-conditioning plant, standby pumps, sump pump, water tanks, water feature equipment etc.
    Checks all fire equipment along with the building supervisor.
    Ensures that you are familiar with how the emergency equipment functions and what the emergency procedures are.
    Performs a visual check of the electrical distribution boards to ensure no loose wiring, etc.
    Performs repairs where necessary and if these cannot be repaired, advise building supervisor immediately.
    Identifies daily maintenance issues, communicates with the building supervisor and schedules the work for your attendance.
    Inspects equipment, checks operating condition, and logs repair needs.
    Follows all safety rules and procedures, and operates equipment in accordance with established safety policies and department procedures. Ensures compliance with legal regulations. Completes regular OSH inspections and updates monthly reports as appropriate. Ensures that OSHA requirements are effectively implemented.

    Performs ad hoc quality control checks on tenant installations – during or on completion.

    DUTIES (including but not limited to):

    Safely operate the Roof-bolter within designated areas and in accordance with set operating procedures and standards in order to achieve production objectives.
    Operate the Roof-bolter by adhering to operating procedures and standards to achieve production requirements. Monitor continuously component performance through experience, observation against standards to identify sub-standard performance, non-conformance and/or deviations. Report above to supervisor for corrective action measures.
    Conduct pre-shift inspection of Roofbolter machine, machine parts and/or components of the production line to ensure production flow according to standards, within prescribed procedures.
    Follow lock-out procedure when equipment is faulty, and at end of shift, including failure time recorded and location of machine / equipment.
    Perform minor maintenance on Roofbolter by greasing the boom, checking oil, loose fittings, pipes, broken shank, and changing consumables. Report all other maintenance issues to artisan. Maintain proper operation and care of machine as per manufacturer’s specifications, and standard operating procedures.

    Generates job cards for the shutdown plans and captures job card details into the system
    Verifies that inspections are undertaken as specified, by scrutinizing completed maintenance inspection forms, identifying deviations/errors, and following up with concerned party
    Convenes provisional shut down meetings and advises on resource requirements and timing of the shut-down activities and all other pertinent issues, and issues finalized plan
    Oversees the shut-down with maintenance supervisors, and conducts a retrospect exercise, producing reports upon completion, specifying jobs completed and unfinished, with explanations for non-completion and discussing reports with concerned parties
    Reviews the planned maintenance and condition monitoring system and documentation on an ongoing basis for appropriateness and effectiveness, recommends improvements to the Engineer, and updates the system accordingly
    Develops scheduled/provisional plant shut-down plans in conjunction with maintenance supervisors, considering outstanding work, user department needs, spares availability and other factors, and produces a schedule using computer software.
