    Description

    Project management and coordination of research on a national level.
    Actively sources new national research opportunities and writes proposals.
    Identifies the need for resources (human capital, equipment and materials) in project(s) and manages them accordingly.
    Human Capacity Development that includes outputs of mentoring and developing others (internal staff) and developing self.
    Conducts research in Plant Breeding, with a focus on legume crops.
    Acquire, utilise, and maintain germplasms, and develop elite breeding lines.

    Requirements

    PhD in Plant Breeding, or related disciplines.
    At least three years’ research experience related to plant breeding, post master’s level.
    Experience in classical plant breeding techniques.
    Experience in molecular plant breeding techniques will be an added advantage.
    Authored or co-authored a minimum of two peer reviewed publications relevant to the position.
    Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills, with an ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
    A valid driver’s license.

    Maintenance coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, stocking inventory and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure optimal functionality and safety.

    Required outputs: functional

    Develop and create maintenance schedules for equipment and facility

    Track common failed parts and develop a replenishment strategy for spare part management
    Manage inventory spares to be value of R5 million rands
    Ensure that maintenance operations comply with the OHS ACT and Mine Health and Safety
    Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
    Develop and implement maintenance procedures and protocols
    Assist in conducting site audits for safety, compliance and operational readiness
    Critical assessment of maintenance operations
    Identify opportunities for improvement using data-driven decisions
    Communicate with other departments on scheduled maintenance
    Ensure that maintenance logs are updated
    Support the Engineering Services Superintendent with maintenance logs
    Compare invoices to the requested work and address discrepancies
    Liaise with contractors to ensure services are performed as required
    Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and costs
    Prepare reports on maintenance status and budget

    Qualifications & Experience    

    Minimum: National Diploma, B-Tech & BSc Electrical or Mechanical engineering
    Minimum: 3-5 years Maintenance planning
    Advantageous: Technical knowledge of Mobile Manufacturing Units
    Experience working with OEMs and third-party contractors
    In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, standards and maintenance management systems (CMMS, SAP PM) in a manufacturing environment

    Purpose of Job

    To provide welding and fabrication coordination by organising resources in the delivering quality control, quality assurance, fabrication, welding, heat treatment and the use of service providers.

    Key Accountabilities

    Monitor on site on RWS, compiling a bill of material and planning;
    Approve ,scope and plan all notification, ensure execution of each Permit system 100% compliance:
    Keep to -3% budgets for the NDT conducted and hired labour and heat treatment;
    Minimize budget of welding consumables and materials(store) to be ordered;
    Ensure that work standards are met according to quality standards & compliance;
    Coordination with the field subcontractors for all welding procedures specifications and procedures qualification reports;
    Elaborating and coordinating the welding specifications , and codes/standards;
    Review course and effects of welding defects and take remedial actions;
    Coordination with the third party NDT inspection company;
    Review of the radiographic films and all NDT reports on a daily basis;
    Reviewing the inspection and testing methods and procedures for inspections;
    Monitor any post weld heat treatment on site/shop & review the completed chart;
    Coordinating all relevant documents for the RWS for the job to proceed (approved ABC stamped drawings ,heat treatment procedures, approved WPS ,qualified welder ,BOM for materials to be used;
    Make sure that all welds are quality engineering welds according to codes requirements;
    Apply safety in all practices, specifically project planning and execution;

    In total a minimum of 24 months as a Welding Specialist / Quality Specialist
