    TECHNICAL OFFICERWe are seeking a motivated and results-driven Electric Engineer to join our team. Based in Harare, the ideal candidate will be responsible:

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Engineering & Design: technical role – site screening, design review, review and equipment selection• RFP development and contracting all the site and grid–based studies.• Perform energy yield analyses (EYAs) and review EYAs by other parties• Review the site and grid study reports from consultants and provide feedback• Evaluate and optimise technology and layout options for future projects• Highlight grid connection and off–taker requirements for future projects• Lead the write–up of the Employer’s Requirements for the EPC to align with – with a strong focus on cost–effectiveness and constructability• Write–up of minimum specifications for key equipment (Inverter,Module, Tracker / substructure, BESS, PPC, SCADA, substation equipment)• Liaise and coordinate with Lenders’ Technical Advisor (LTA) and support in all technical matters on behalf of the organisation and, in some cases, the EPC.• Review and approve manufacturer/ subcontractor/ vendor techno–commercial offer• Support the Solar Technical Manager and other parties in the Technical team in achieving AMEA’s annual and long term strategic renewable energy business plan• Support with project agreements like PPA, EPC and O&M and their typical technical schedules• Specify the Owner’s Engineer (OE) role to help with the development of their RFPs and Contracts – while assuming more responsibility to reduce the organisation’s reliance on an OE for technical support• Coordination and communication with internal and external parties and/or suppliers to resolve techno–commercial issues• Manage technical work streams within the projects allocated Key Responsibilities:• Support project team with regards to site screening, initial layout design, basic grid connection design, selection of critical equipment and contracting all the site studies. Review and evaluate the EPC requirements and offers Review the site study reports from consultant and provide feedback• Support the development team for carrying out site screening assessments including but not limited to Africa, Middle and Asia regions and identifying potential solar and BESS energy assets for development• Support the organisation in performing and packaging projects’ technical feasibility studies• Perform technical due diligence assessments on potential projects• Build and maintain relationships with consultants, EPC contractors, technology providers, OEMs, Lenders.• Support, and in some cases lead, a project through various stages of development like resource studies, feasibility studies, conceptual designs, high–level environmental impact assessments, agreements and applications,• Negotiate techno–commercial terms of the PPA and other project agreements, detailed studies, procurement, EPC, O&M / LTSA and Project Financing agreements• Prepare budget for technical studies• Effectively manage preparation of required technical inputs and management of technical operations for several renewable energy projects concurrently – all with time and budget constraints considered to deliver these projects.• Coordinate with internal legal and financial team during the development process for the preparation of various document and model reviews• Coordinate with execution team during structuring, execution and commissioning stages of the projects• Assist in Lenders and investors technical due diligence processes• Prepare technical and (in some cases) non–technical project reports for internal or external inquiries• Monitor and if possible supervise all the above functions for co–developed / co–invested projects• Detail design review support

    Qualifications and Experience
    Experience Requirements • Successful experience of at least 3 to 5 years in the development, structuring and/or construction of utility–scale solar or renewable energy projects in markets including Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Strong experience in Solar resource assessment, screening and initial plant design, constructability and technical requirements.• Evidence of continued professional development• Detail design first–hand or review experience• Commissioning and grid code testing experience• Strong understanding of grid codes, grid connection requirements and plant control philosophy• Understanding and some experience in SCADA, plant communications, lightning and electrical protection• Understanding of most common failure points in utility–scale solar and BESS plants• Understanding of typical component and consultancy costs• EPC, developer, utility or consultant business background Qualifications and Experience• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Mechatronics)• Masters in renewable energy will be an advantage• Clean Class 4 Drivers License.

  • Programme Support Officer AO

    Job Description
    The British Embassy in Harare is looking for a dynamic and capable Programme Support Officer to support delivery across its Policy & Programme Teams. The officer will be part of a strong team at the heart of the Embassy, working to deliver our “Partnerships for Growth” agenda in Zimbabwe. This will involve work on both project delivery and supporting policy engagement across a range of thematic areas such as health, education, climate, rights, economic development and trade and investment. The right individual will be able to flex according to emerging opportunities as they arise, helping the Embassy team adapt and respond to short-term changes while also helping deliver long term goals.

    As a Programme Support Officer the individual will be responsible for supporting delivery of several projects and policy areas, working with the Lead Advisers, programme managers, Project Responsible Officers (PROs) and Senior Responsible Owners (SROs). In the project space, the successful candidate will help ensure the team’s adherence to FCDO’s Programme Operating Framework (PROF) Rules, although may need advice/guidance on more complex issues. The Officer is expected to have a good understanding of project cycle management and at least a basic understanding of the technical concepts of projects they work on and collaborate effectively with Advisers on technical and other policy issues.

    Although based in the Policy and Programme Team, the Programme Support Officer is expected to support Embassy-wide events, including helping deliver the Embassy’s engagement at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo and the Kings Birthday Party in Harare as examples. The individual may also be assigned additional Embassy-wide corporate responsibilities for team and/or business unit according to capability and workload considerations.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    This is an exciting role helping to deliver the UK’s Partnerships for Growth agenda, working towards mutual benefit for the UK and Zimbabwe. While primarily an internal support role, the post holder will be expected to support the Policy and Programme Team’s external network at an appropriate level, for example ministry counterparts or relevant sector agencies.

    Proactively managing financial forecasts, working closely with spending partners, Advisers and SROs to create realistic and up to date spending forecasts, andReviewing partner/supplier financial reports checking for variances and VFM issues.Ensuring all requisitions, purchase orders and receipting/payment of invoices meet FCDO’s financial rules, and are linked to agreed project milestones and/or partner or supplier reporting obligations.Report all concerns of fraud at the earliest opportunity and take appropriate steps to address them.CORPORATE CONTRIBUTION AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT – Provide administrative support to the Policy and Programme Team, inclulding the Development Director, e.g. in organising Zimbabwe development partner forum (ZDPF) meetings; and in organising / supporting organisation of Ambassador visits, partner meetings and other field visits. Play an active role in wider embassy life, including through participation in key committees and boards (e.g. the Wellbeing Committee, or Post Operations Committee) and helping organise cross-embassy events, such as ZITF, King’s Birthday Party etc. Support coordination and compliance of corporate procurement for the wider Embassy operations and Corporate Services team.

    Job Description
    CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is an organisation that specialises in population health research and programming, including on sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. CeSHHAR has an extensive national, regional, and international academic and community partnership network. CeSHHAR has a diverse range of funders which include the Wellcome Trust, Gates Foundation, United States NIH, UK Medical Research Council, European Commission, Templeton World Charity Foundation, and Global Fund for AIDS TB and Malaria. We partner very closely with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (UK), Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Child Care and international and regional centres of research excellence to evaluate national programmes and determine the impact, uptake, and cost effectiveness of novel reproductive health interventions. The Behavioural Research Scientist will be reporting to the Director of the Department of Climate, Environment and Health, and is responsible for leading the scientific aspects of the research under HIGH Horizon (EU-funded) and HAPI (Wellcome Trust) in Mt Darwin District. The two projects address knowledge gaps around the direct and indirect impacts of ambient heat exposure on maternal and newborn health. Applied research methods include photovoice, participant observations, ethnography, co-production workshops, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. The projects contribute to designing individual/household/community and health facility-level interventions for protecting target populations against environmental impacts.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    The Behavioural Research Scientist is responsible for ensuring compliance with protocols and overall study objectives, including: • Research leadership: Understand and applying the principles of behavioural science to real-world health problems as a result of environmental exposures; Spearhead the design and implementation of research projects within the Climate, Environment and Health Department, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives.• Protocol development: Collaborate with Investigators in crafting research protocols. Facilitate timely protocol approvals and maintain an organized system for protocol renewals, payments, and reporting.• Intervention design: Conduct research to understand the factors that influence behaviour and use this information to develop interventions to promote positive behaviour change.• Data analysis: Lead the analysis of (mainly) qualitative data using behavioural science frameworks; Develop and test theories about human behaviour and its impact. • Research Coordination: Oversee the strategic planning, execution, and synchronization of research activities, ensuring alignment with established protocols and project timelines; Supervise research personnel, offering training and continuous support to ensure adherence to study protocols, ethical standards, and data gathering methods.• Research Administration: maintaining complete Investigator site file; supervise the crafting and translation of essential research documents, and secure necessary regulatory and ethical clearances for studies.• Quality Assurance and SOPs: Design and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for research undertakings.     Qualifications and Experience

Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively as part of a research team with a good understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods of research; Prior experience managing a field team. Conversant in Microsoft Office packages and possession of excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Self-motivated and good leadership skills. Ability to work with people from different backgrounds.

    Eligibility CriteriaApplicant organizations must:• Be legally registered and operating in Zimbabwe• Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in youth development or livelihoods• Be based in or working within rural or underserved communities• Demonstrate capacity for financial and programmatic reporting• Align with Youth Advocates’ safeguarding and child protection standards
